While I never consciously chose stuff for being or not being feminine/masculine, since I've
come out, I'm actually finding certain things annoying when shopping for shampoos, shower gel
etc.
The guy stuff usually looks unattractive; packaging-wise, I mean; and the names they give these
things: Right Guard! Yeah, sooo manly! I want to guard the my property right now, like a fierce
Rottweiler!GRRRR! Or the Lynx deodorants, meant to attract girls to you! Does it really work?
I've got the 2012 'final edition' right now - hasn't worked so far, but lovely (and yes, I say lovely!)
smell!
Underwear! Don't start me on the that one! I loathe men's pants, not for their cut, but because the
horrible designs you get! Like black and grey triangle things floating through spaca against a mud
coloured background, or other strange 'alien' shapes. I'd almost always go for cartoon boxers if they're
not too dear, same for socks, I looove my Homer Simpson and Mr Bean socks! They're such a nice
contrast to the way I dress, I just can't take this life too seriously...
So, what stuff I won't let go off?
- my favourite undies, nice, colourful, happy, some of them even pink and with hearts or animal-pattern
- my pink glittering diary
- my horse tool box (stuff you need for grooming horses that is), it's bright pink with little horses on it
and glitter stickers! I store my DIY stuff in it now!
- some scarfs with bright colours and glitter effect
- holographic nailpolish
- bedlinen with floral prints
- floral prints in general (curtaints, spreads etc)
- my cuddly toys (doggies), and I still add one to the collection at least once per month
All in all, I find some of the 'typical' guy stuff rather bland and not at all cheerful. Like a person that can't smile;
I don't want to be like that;)) I like the asian look a lot, it's obviously Manga-influenced and doesn't make such
a clear distinction between the classical male and modern female style.
When shopping with a (female) friend , I'd still say, oh look, isn't this cute? or 'Look at his little paws and the little
face, e.g. when seeing a super-cute dog (obviously not when dealing with a Rottweiler;)
Oh, forgot, I won't remove the dolphin and puppy stickers from my car either (Ford Fiesta...er, do I need a new
car?)
