Hunting isn't allowed in my country, the only hunting here is once every few years to keep deer populations in bound because they don't have a natural predator. But I always imagined that I'd love to hunt. Even thought I keep fighting with the idea in my head since it would/should stride against my pro-nature feelings.

I don't know, maybe it's a good thing we're not allowed to hunt, keep the fight in my head far in the background ;)

I used to hunt but I refuse to go out alone anymore and all my former hunting buddies decided they didn't want anything to do with me when I transitioned.  This is the first year in about thirty that I haven't bought a license.  Even if I didn't hunt I'd get one because the New York Dept of Environmental Conservation can use the money but this year I couldn't spare it.

If I had my way I'd own a retriever and hunt waterfowl.  I used to hunt deer, with some success but never got anything worth taking a picture of.  I hunt more for the food value of the animals, buying and selling game is illegal in my state.

I'm an almost every day small game hunter. I like to keep the squirrels away from my bird feeders. Rabbits, starlings, and English Sparrows get shot, too. I love venison, but have never taken a deer of my own.

Oh yeah, I love killing innocent animals for fun. :icon_hahano:

And by the way, "Who all here"? Really?

I just don't get what's so fun about KILLING animals. What type of sick pleasure do you even get from that? And you want pictures? Of dead animals? What the ? I don't even know what to say. It's good that it's illegal, because it should be. So * you (all of ya). :icon_pissed:

Animals aren't innocent. To be innocent implies that they could also be guilty...which is ludicrous.

Killing animals is a good thing...if you like to eat meat, or wear leather. It's hard to eat an animal "on the hoof."

That said, I used to hunt. White tail deer mainly, elk sometimes. I've had a couple bad experiences during hunting though, and stopped about 10-15 years ago.
...I think for most of us it is a futile effort to try and put this genie back in the bottle once she has tasted freedom...

Hunting is just another hobby that some people enjoy doing. The thrill of tracking down an animal and then getting to eat your trophy is something that not many other sports can offer. As long as the animal is killed humanely and all parts of the animal are consumed/used and the species is not endangered, then what's the problem?

My brother and step dad hunt, but I don't really. They go once a year for a week and when I asked to go they told me it was only for men.

Thomas, I don't see why anyone would delete your post, but can't you disagree without giving everyone the finger? Killing invasive introduced species is beneficial. I'm hoping Eastern Bluebirds can make a comeback in my area, English Sparrows have nearly wiped them out. Coyotes come through my yard every night and take what I've shot. What's the problem? You would probably have more luck in the MTF forum, that is where people talk about masculine interests.

I've never been hunting. I personally wouldn't feel right killing it if it's not for food or a reason like population control. I totally see how hunting can be fun though and would go if I was ever invited.

I was raised in a vegetarian, sometimes vegan family. I personally hated being limited in my food choices or it being awkward when I'm a guest for dinner. I'm an adult now so I can eat whatever I want, but I still consider myself a supporter of animal rights. Animals obviously shouldn't have the same rights as humans, but they should have the right to be free from abuse. Hunting for food is way more humane than buying meat at the store. A hunted animal actually got to live a life that nature intended for it to live. Most animals born on a factory farm knows nothing but torture. Were at the top of the food chain and the way a hunter kills an animal is so much kinder than the way other predators would. Animals kill other animals all the time. Your existence will always be killing animals in some way. Vegetarians contribute to factory farming just as much as meat eaters do. Animals die in the machines used to harvest crops that vegans eat. I bet at least 1 animal somehow died in the making of every object in your house.  It's the circle of life, it's just how nature works. Hunting is a deep rooted instinct, which for a lot of obvious reasons can be fun. Hunting can be necessary to save human lives. You really think that should be illegal?

Hows the phrasing of the topic even relevant? It's not what someone with my accent would say, and I'm assuming not yours, but so what?

If someone deletes your post they are deleting immature statements not the truth.

I love all kinds of jerky, and sure wouldn't mind going hunting just to get some.
:]
I've never been hunting before, but never really had anyone take me before though.
I wouldn't protest to doing something like that though.
This is likely to offend some vegetarians/vegans and I apologize for that as well.

This guy loves some deer jerky.

My dad used to take (force) me to go deer hunting with him when i was younger....i hated guns & hated the thought of hunting down and killing poor Innocent animals (i used to watch Bambi alot as a kid) so instead of seriously trying to hunt i would pick a spot to sit and while my dad went to his own spot far away i would sit up against a tree and smoke weed. I fell asleep and woke up to the sound of leaves crunching and like right in front of me was a deer looking straight at me, i just sat there and watched her till my stupid dad came up from behind and SHOT the poor thing....

I started to get teary eyed and he said "are you crying? don't be a ->-bleeped-<-, you know what we came here to do...now get your knife out."   :'(

But i have to agree that deer jerky is awesome!  :D

Please by all means eat more veggies leaves more meat for me haha. My family hunts and owns a slater shop. The meat they get they use. If they have extra than it goes to the local food bank. I will say they aren't out tourturing any animals. But one's beliefs on hunting is not what this is for. He asked if anyone else hunts to keep them going. Keep them happy.

It remains a fact that every time we eat something, something else has had to die.  Vegetation included.  Killing is a part of life, even if you're not the one doing it, it's something that keeps you alive.  You've merely delegated the work.

Being rude and obnoxious doesn't solve anything and certainly doesn't increase the validity of an argument.  I won't be deleting your boorish post but don't be surprised if someone else does.  This is a support site and while you can post disagreements, it's against site policy and the TOS when you do it so disagreeably.  Consider this a friendly warning.

I like hunting. I just got a compound bow this season and have been practicing shooting for a while and even though it's a little late in the season (deer) I plan on going out sometime in the next month. Ohio's archery season lasts 'til February so I have some time. I've been shotgun hunting before for deer and I've gone squirrel hunting before. Have yet to get my own deer but I've gutted, butchered, and processed them with friends and I'm working on trying to tan a hide right now for the first time. I have tons of deer meat in the freezer from other people this year though. Maybe when I get out with my bow this month I'll get one, that would be nice. Can't wait to get out later this month.

I don't think this is a fair statement.  Some are bad, but a lot of them aren't.
I know farms exist that treat the animals well, but i've never heard of a factory farm that did. Being a "factory" they value productivity over being humane.

I've yet to go hunting in my life, but next year I have to get a hunting license if I wanna pay in-state tuition (proof of residence thing). If I have the money, I'd love to get some equipment to actually make use of the license :'D. I'm gonna need to practice so I can survive in the wild when the Apocalypse comes @_@...I also need to learn to fish XP, preferably with my bare hands @_@...

I have hunters all around me and my small farm. I also have many deer hiding by my trout stream and the hunters know it but i don't allow hunting here since there are other houses too close. I once shot a deer which had a broken leg and a rusty colored liver. That was out in N. Calif back in the 70's. I decided not to hunt, but when people do hunt i will salvage every bit of meat while many will waste it. I am good at skinning deer. I am also very careful not to run over animals by driving carefully thru areas where they live and may cross the roads. I have also picked up road kills for the skins. One day in the future i will get rid of my car and just drive a horse and buggy again like my amish neighbors. Right now i caregive my mom so i can't do that yet. I am not against hunting for all people but doing it for sport seems wimpy but doing it for food is fine.

I don't hunt but I love target shooting. I wouldn't know what to do with the meat/fur so it would be kind of a waste.
