Yeah I've started doing a few VFFS things too, though the noses often turn out a little bit too Michael Jackson for my liking. Plus I'm still not great with forehead stuff or lip lifts. It has shown me the extent to which my nose masculinises my face though, which really helps to know.
Doing a virtual lip lift is really hard! I've been using Photoshop professionally since he mid 90s, and whenever I try and do my own VFFS I lose patience! lol But yet I've spent hours retouching photos at various jobs... go figure!
Since making my decision to transition, and realizing I need some FFS, I spend a lot of time looking at women's faces; in public, in photos, etc. I've downloaded photos of women's faces with a similar shape as mine, etc. So I have come to the conclusion that one of the most masculinizing features on a person's face is the nose and the brow. And all too often, the photos I see of FFS after examples haven't had enough done to the nose. Sometimes nothing at all. And to me, they often don't look like women at all.
I wonder if they either thought they looked good, or they didn't want to look like a different person. But you really can't properly feminize your face and look the same, or you will look like a guy with slightly feminine features, or a manly woman. There's just too much of the face being changed. I have no problem with people not recognizing me afterwards, and I hope that is the case. If I look like the sister I never had, that's fine, but no one confuses a sister and her brother as the same person.
I wouldn't worry about looking like Michael Jackson. No one is going to make your nose that skinny. No doctor would do that, except in his case he was rich and that's what he wanted. His first nose job wasn't so bad. Neither was Janet's. But you should try and have the size of the nose made smaller. It doesn't have to be skinny, but it should not protrude as far off your face, and the angle to the brow has to be changed to that of what's on female's faces.
What I have been doing is finding photos of noses I like that would fit the shape of my face. There is a limit to what can be done, because the existing skin has to drape over the framework. They do cut under the tip/nostrils, and can tighten it up a bit there, but it depends a lot on the thickness of the skin, etc. So the thing is to be very clear with your doctor about what you want, and I wouldn't be too shy about having them do what's needed to make you look like a female, and not just feminizing your features a little bit. Who wants to end up being a manly looking woman? Not me. It's bad enough that we do not have women's bodies.
