Well today I went down to start my counciling to start my transistion and he is recommending a sych evalve in 2 weeks. This is being donw throught the VA so des anyone know if this is normal? Thanks in advanced

It's fairly standard procedure to have a psychiatric evaluation - to make sure that we have gender dysphoria rather than a mental health issue that just looks like GD (which isn't a mental health issue) - and also to ensure that if we have any mental health issues alongside of GD, we get support with those as well as with our GD. At least, that's how it works in the UK. It may feel like gate-keeping, but it's meant as care.

i had a psychiatrist eval (my therapist recommended it during sessions), i think it's normal, it was just to confirm the diagnosis
