As men get in touch with their feminine sides and women reject sexist stereotypes, a group in London is advocating for a reflection of this new gender-converged world in the English language.

One such group is campaigning to replace the old fashioned "he" and "she" with the genderless and thoroughly modern "hu."

Pronounced with a short vowel sound, as in "huh," hu would not imply any gender. To each hu own, they say.

Great, now we can all sound like my cat with the defective purr: "Huh, huh, huh."

I once knew a cat who'd had surgery to reroute his tear ducts down through his mouth (no clue why), and his breathing sounded kinda like that. The weirdest thing was that if you pet him enough, he'd drool copiously. Do normal cats lubricate their eyes more when they're happy, or was that a byproduct of having an odd anatomical configuration?

It's not going to happen anytime soon, and the majority of the world will label them as crazies. I personally don't think it's worth the effort.

I have found James Joyce's works to be incomprehensible. But throwing in 'hu' instead of male/female pronouns may change that. But I doubt it.

I thought only English majors studied James Joyce?

No idea about cats, tearing, and drooling. I've had cats who drooled when they were scared, such as on the way to the vet's office.

I think we should use gender-neutral pronouns for spayed and neutered cats. That way, my cat can say his own pronoun.
