But here in the USA, supposedly an enlightened country which will continue to forbid castration of young boys, one presumes, a couple appears intent on doing by chemical means what a knife would otherwise achieve.

In a story that surfaced some months ago, the parents (both female) of "Tammy" (formerly known as "Tommy") are giving their eleven-year-old son hormone-blocking injections designed to retard puberty on the spurious grounds that the child has wanted to be a girl from the time he was three years old.  Worse yet, their actions have received support from the extended GLBT and liberal community, just as castration of boys received support from 18th-century parents who pressured their little boys to become androgynous singers.

It is almost unbelievable that the obvious has to be pointed out: giving a kid hormone-blocking drugs is just as abusive as cutting off his testicles.  The fact that he says he wants to be a girl does not excuse the abuse.  Nor does the hope of restoring normal hormones at the age of fourteen or fifteen, should he choose to develop normally, excuse the abuse.

And as usual, these guys refuse to take any notion whatsoever about what the Child her/himself actually thinks.
Is it not rather that, that is the true child abuse in the question?

I also find it highly ironic that people that is not seldomly intense supporters of a Nation that allows genital mutilation on non-consental male infants, twists around and consider medical and reversable treatment on consenting individuals, unforgiveable.

Castration is a very different thing from delaying puberty using drugs, under the supervision of a medical Dr.

As far as I know, the effects of puberty delaying drugs will disappear once the drugs are withdrawn. So no permanent effects.

Be grateful for any information and confirmation, perhaps with a reference, on this point.

This is article is clearly intended as a provocation. The apparent title of the publication I take it, is ironic.

Is this the case they are trying to make (not that I believe it is valid but...)

Taking testosterone blockers as an adult for too long will lead to permanent sterility
Therefore taking testosterone blocks as a child for the same period will lead to sterility?


That isn't really valid because they testes have NOT yet started producing testosterone until puberty so if they are started before then it just delays right?  Isn't that the current medical thinking?

Otherwise all children would be sterile since they have not produced testosterone for at least 10 years.

  Some parents are still doing that, not by surgery or chemical means, but by mental programming to be celebate.  I grew up in a Catholic neighborhood and a few parents did program their kids to be either priests or nuns.   These kids has less play time with others than the rest of us did.  More of their time was spent on Bible and Catechism studies.  I found out over the years that a lot of religions in the world practice either castration or celibacy to enhance their way to heaven as well for their parents.  This is no different than in biblical times that the family of a castrated boy for lifetime service got a good stipend for this.

An eleven-year old really can't give "consent" - at least in the legal sense.

The child's parents also said Tommy threatened to mutilate his genitals when he was seven, and psychiatrists diagnosed a gender identity disorder. One year later, he began transitioning to Tammy.

After much deliberation with family and therapists, the child began taking hormone blockers a few months ago. The medication, which must be changed once a year, was implanted in the boy's upper left arm.

Here's the "cisgender news" version of the article. Goes to show that with enough fear-mongering, you can make raising a cis child sound like some sort of medieval abuse as well!

The child, who is assigned male at birth, and is very satisfied with the male gender identity and looking forward to the changes of male puberty, is planning to go through with puberty right away, without going on androgen blocking drugs. The child's parents insist that they are doing no harm, since it is allegedly very obvious that their child wants to grow up as a male. However, there are a quarter of a million people worldwide who do not want to grow up as the gender they were assigned at birth, AND THIS CHILD COULD BE ONE OF THEM!!! You know, even though it's been incredibly obvious that this child is happy with their male gender assignment since the day they were born, but they might change their mind!!!1111
