I think we expect the worst as a matter of course.  It's nice to  be pleasantly surprised.  Congratulations.

As someone posted on here a while ago, transition is like crossing an ocean.  You can do it fast and uncomfortable in a speed boat, or slow and comfortable in a liner.

Yeah, so far the only people I've told that took it poorly was the first person I told. Serious error in judgement!
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

deatsabat546, congrats! I'm still trying to muster up enough courage to come out to my parents. Gonna go with my mom first, since she expressed on quite a few occasions that she completely supports transsexuals.

Alaina, who'd you tell first?

Lol i tried to take it slow but after i told a few people it seemed everyone knew! Probably for the best, meant i had to have "that conversation" less times XD

It is a nice feeling knowing friends are by you regardless of your decision.

I just started therapy but I have known since I was little and it was to the point where I couldn't handle it anymore.

I always said I wouldn't tell anyone until I started HRT but in the last week I've told my best friend already and another one of my buddies from school.  It was nice to just open the door and let it out.

I still have some people very special to me (parents and SO) to tell and I have no clue how/when I will but the fact that people accept you for who you are when you expect nothing but the worst is a great feeling.

So far I'm out to a really good (female) friend, who's an ex-gf (it's very complicated). I'm strongly considering coming out to my (male) roommate (who's also a colleague). I think he's the sort to keep a secret, until it's no longer a secret, and seems to like "interesting" people. We'll see....I'm also of the "taking it slow" mind about telling people.

I came out to my boyfriend a couple years ago, and came out to my dad I think last week. I've been taking it slowly too. I wasn't really up for more upheaval than necessary.
