Several Safford High School students stayed home from school Wednesday in protest of the day's spirit week theme: Cross-dressing.

In observance of a kind of homecoming for the basketball season, a committee made up of students and sponsors planned themes for Turnabout Week. Wednesday was cross-dress day ,and Thursday allowed classes to choose a reality TV series. The sophomore class chose "Jersey Shore" as its show. Another class chose "Survivor."

Some parents kept their children home Wednesday, and still others, including students and teachers, voiced concerns about the decision.
