So, I've got an interview on Wednesday at my local Best Buy.

Yesterday, I got a call about my application and the woman asked, "Is Darius there?" (Darius is my chosen name) I replied, "This is her..." Realizing I caught my mistake, I instantly fixed it by saying, "...Him," Now, why is this important? Well, the truth is, that when I was filling out applications the last time, I can't remember if Best Buy has a 'Preferred Name' Section. Some applications do, and I know I filled some out with it, but I can't remember if this one had one. So seriously, why does that matter? Because I'm worried that I put my chosen name as my legal name and I'm worried that this will cause problems if I'm hired.

>____O; I'm not sure how I should go about this.

I could mention it at the interview, or when I present my information, I could say, "I'm not sure which name I put on my application, I think that I might have put the wrong one by mistake, but I swear that my license is correct,"

How would you guys approach this?

I wouldn't mention it at the interview. I would just interview normally and do your best, using your preferred name. The legal name business won't matter until you are actually hired and are filling out paperwork. Once the paperwork is presented to you, then you can hopefully discreetly work out the name business with a manager or whoever is telling you to fill out the forms.

good luck! congrats on the interview

Phew, so I just went back to the online application and went through the first bit of it to make sure they had a 'preferred name' option and sure enough they did, now I feel much better knowing that they have my legal, and my chosen. Now I have only one problem, aside from the cliched pre-interview stress, time to look up some haircuts so I can look all fresh and snappy.

Also, thanks for the pointers Spacerace, and thank you!
