It's really hard to wash the pot after making it. Rice pudding tastes mostly the same and is easier cleanup. I love tapioca though because it makes me feel grownup and adventurous. I'd only heard of it from Peanuts comics growing up. :)

I liked it when I was younger but it's been quite awhile since I've had any so I'm standing at the crossroads of indecision

Love it, especially in a pudding with the large pearl-type tapioca.

Now, bobas in Thai iced tea  took a little getting used to.

Mum used to make rice pudding. Is that the same?

"gelled frog-eggs" Now that I think about it, my Dad (rest his soul) always called tapioca pudding "fish-eyes" and wouldn't touch it. Hugs, Devlyn

I would get freaked out and call it fish eggs.  I ate it every once in a while while I was younger but now....no thank you.

Somewhat bland by itself. But if prepared and baked well, and probably treated more like a rice receipe than it's an absolute YES from me.

It's really one of those all year rounders. Hot and 'custardly' like in winter and blended with tropical fruits (mango, paw paw) , mixed berries, or with apple and nutmeg or rhubarb in summer.

Thanks for the thread Devlyn

Anyone like Thai iced tea with boba?  If I'm not mistaken, boba are big tapiocas.

My daughter adores that stuff. On celebratory occasions we go to a cafe we like and she gets a cup of it.

Axelle and Devlyn I told my kid about calling tapioca frog eggs or fish eyes, and she thinks I have the coolest friends ever. ;D

Frog spawn. Haven't had it since school - tasted okay but looked/felt gross as hell.

We called it "Frogs Eggs" too.  Definitely a bit bland by itself, but not bad with fruit or in a Rice Pudding type recipe.

I like tapioca pudding better than rice pudding, or plain vanilla pudding.

Ugh.

It reminds me of the substance teenagers with acne squeeze out of their face.

I love squeezing zits. I have them more as an adult than I did as a teenager. Anyway the boba tapioca is black, not sebum or pus-colored. Ever use lanolin for anything? Comes out of sheep pores. ;D
