Hey everyone! ;D My name is Tori, well not my birth name but the one I prefer. I'm new to the tg scene. I have slowly been discovering the new me for a little over a year now. I still don't understand why I am this way or even where I fall in the lingo lol. I enjoy wearing my wifes clothes (actually I only wear mens clothes at work and usually in public due to the fact I'm still in the closet, terrified to come out), I feel very feminine, I discovered that I love some things in the bedroom I would never have thought I would ever consider trying, I wish I looked like a woman, but I don't think I would get srs done tho. I am pretty confused about who I am right now and I'm just looking to make some friends and have someone to talk to about all the changes in my life. As I mentioned I am married and I have 4 sons and 3 step sons and believe me their a handful. Its hard to talk to my wife about this stuff and she isn't thrilled about any of my changes...however I am optimistic about it! I know in my heart this is who I am and hope for best. That being said I am looking for a therapist to talk to, maybe I can get my wife to go with me...so if anyone has any recommendations for the Houston, TX area please let me know. I have been looking online but I want to go to someone that is recommended from experience. Anywho, if you have any questions just ask.

Hi Tori,

Welcome to Susan's. The good news is, you're not alone. You have made a wise choice to seek out a TG friendly therapist.

Although a good idea to see if your wife can come along, but it may be a bit early. Get to know who you are first, then you will have a better idea on how to convey your new feelings to others. Your wife will need her own time and space to work her issues out. This is a mega change in everyones life in your circle of influence.

There is plenty of resources and info here to help you along the way. There is also an amazing wealth of experience from those who have "walked the talk."

Keep in touch and let us know how you are coping. In the meantime, be safe, well and happy.
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Thanks for the welcome everyone. There aren't many local people in my area that would understand what I'm going through. Don't get me wrong I love living in Texas, but, not the most accepting people around here. Looking forward to making some friends!  ;D

Thanks Tori,
We are just pleased to have you aboard. This is what Susan's is all about. One big family supporting each other in a caring environment. Make yourself at home. milk is in the fridge, coffee, tea and sugar are in the cupboard. Cindy has the decaff.  ..... Devlyn had the biscuits till last weekend. I suspect she ate them. Don't worry, her visa has been suspended till they're returned.

Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs

Tori, don't know if you live close to Houston, but they have a wonderful transgender center there. It is where I went when I first came out. It is close to downtown on Pacific. They have support group meetings on Monday nights. You might also try and find yourself a therapist that specializes in gender issues. Having people to talk to who understand is VERY important.
and i know that i'm never alone
and i know that my heart is my home
Every missing piece of me
I can find in a melody

Props to you and everyone else dealing with this while living in conservative areas. I'm a chicken, and didn't transition until suddenly finding myself living on the west coast, in a city with a gay mayor.

Thanks to everyone for the support! Melody, I have seen the transgender center on the net and had considered going to see what it was all about. Its an hour plus drive for me tho, but that's do-able. ;D that might be the first step to finding a good therapist also. Thanks again to everyone! :D

Welcome to Susan's Tori, you will find many great people here. First thing you need to do is find a good Therapist who deals in transgender issues. They will help you sort everything out and be quite honest with them too. You can check out support groups with your wife plus have her join this site too. There is a lot of good support and good information on Susan's.
