My 3 month checkup was today, and let me just say, I am astonished by how awesome my doctor is. She had nothing but compliments about my progress. She is willing to work with me in coding my lab tests and dr visits so that my insurance will cover it. On top of that, after pointing out that spiro is a diuretic and estradiol causes blood clots, I asked her if I could get a doctors excuse saying that being exposed to heat for too long can be fatal for me, and she said sure! So no more attic work for me this summer!! Not only that, she answered a few medical questions to help me explain the changes to everybody without saying "i'm trans" ... basically I'm going with testicular tumor. Which will explain the most awesome thing that's happened to me this visit, she said she's willing to sign off on me getting an orchiectomy without living full time, AND she will look for a surgeon willing to do it!

I asked her about IM shots, but she says she wants to level off my estradiol levels first. They were sky high and she wants to get me down to sane levels so she could know what dose to prescribe me. I had another blood test (second in a week) for a couple reasons. 1) because I think the high levels were caused by taking a dose sublingually 1 hour before the test, and 2) because since she lowered my dosage by 1/3, and she would like to see if there has been a drop off yet. If there hasn't been a drop off, she is thinking I am possibly intersex.

She kept speaking about her partner going thru transition, and how the area is such a closed minded place. Apparently she knows more about the personal needs of transsexualism than most doctors do, and is definitely willing to help on matters with me. I was thinking about going to a GP due to cost, but due to her excellent care, I think it's worth it to go to her. One of her primary concerns about everything the entire time was whether insurance would cover it all. Many of her questions were "can you pay for it" in nature.  She is extremely sympathetic to everything, and if anybody in my area is looking for an endocrinologist PM me and I will gladly give her name out.
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.
