Under the proposals, Roman Catholic priests and other clergy might face two to five years in prison for preaching against homosexuality.

A rector of a seminary who refuses admission to a homosexual student could face three to five years.

The Brazilian Senate was supposed to vote on the legislation last Thursday, but it declined to do so.

I absolutely DISAGREE with this 100%
It's absolutely wrong.

Why?  Freedom of Speech works both ways.

Freedom of Speech isn't just Freedom of Speech (that we agree with).
It's freedom of speech for everyone, clergymen included.

If you take away freedoms from a group, you set a precedence that a government can take away freedoms from ANY group.

Now, there is a fine line between free (hate) speech and free speech.
Hate speech should not be tolerated by any group.

But I do not believe preaching against something that you believe is wrong is hate speech.
They believe we are evil and going to hell.
We believe they are wrong.

There is no reconciling that.

That doesn't mean we can't potentially peacefully coexist without someone getting freedoms snatched from them.
