http://blogs.montrealgazette.com/2012/02/26/to-advocate-or-not-to-advocate-that-is-the-question/Personally, I am a woman, but, obviously, I support all trans people and this blog give me a chance to raise some awareness. I am very proud of my newspaper for giving me the opportunity to do that. But in my comings and goings outside of the office, I want to just blend in as a woman. And I do — I get the full "Madame" treatment wherever I go. There is no pronoun confusion. This is important for me: I always felt I was a woman — not a gender rebel or a transgender person — and I am finally able to live as a woman. Thing is, a lot of transgender people and transsexual people helped me through the process, and I love them for it. So, I am not riding off into the sunset just yet.
So, again, this post is specifically for transitioned or transitioning readers, people swapping official gender status within the binary system. Once you have done that, how important is it for you to show your support and advocate for transgender people who will probably, by choice, never officially change gender status? Will you continue to do so? Or will you ride off into the sunset? Remember, this is a totally personal decision, and no one should judge you for it. You have to do what is right for you.
