Commission votes 5-2 to fire Stanton

LARGO - After listening to hours of impassioned testimony, the Largo City Commission voted 5-2 to terminate embattled city manager Steve Stanton.

Mayor Pat Gerard and Commissioner Rodney Wood cast the two "no" votes.

The decision came shortly after midnight.

Ok, now that is just sad.

Given that, just for some reason I have a tendency to think those two no vote people will come under fire for that bit of reason.

I'm not disappointed because this is exactly the outcome I expected.  I hope that the future Ms. Stanton can get a job at a terribly run city or town and then turn it around to prosperity and popularity.

The best revenge is living well.

I'd bet a lot of money that the people that voted to fire him were Chrisitan and Republican.

Well, we know a lawsuit is almost a certainty.  That will get a lot more public attention and unfortunately we need that.  The more we are seen as regular people the less discrimination we'll face.

Overall I feel this will be a positive thing and we'll see things changing for the better.

I'll be interested in seeing if Florida adds transgender to it's non-discrimination laws.

When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

One small bright spot -- Susan can probably, if she wishes, start her RLE.

I wish for her that this turns out to be the worst spot in her transition, and that everything from here on out is better.

Two thoughts:

What goes around, comes around. (usually faster than you thought possible)

Revenge is a dish best eaten cold. I hope their fair city has a nice insurance policy, cause they probably just bought Ms S. a trip to Thailand.

The more they try to plug the dike, the faster it crumbles around them.
