Melody Maia

Yesterday I decided to make the last ID changes I had left to make. Social Security, passport, birth certificate and even my college degree were changed with my new name and/or sex. That was the last of him that existed on official paper. My transition is essentially over, although my life continues and things will change some more.
and i know that i'm never alone
and i know that my heart is my home
Every missing piece of me
I can find in a melody

You all so lucky... about 9 MONTH! to change ID in SA... and pretty much the same to change German Passport, not counting all the other stuff that can only be done after that.

Enjoy, jealous,

Congrats Melody!   :)

On a side note I didn't know that a college degree could be changed.   :o  That will be valuable information for me in the future.

Congratulations, Melody, WTG!  I've already changed the name on my SSN, as I'll need it for filing my tax returns, but I'm waiting on the birth certificate till I can get the gender changed as well (post-op).  The SSN was free, no charge, so I got the name changed, and will change the gender later.  The Canadian government is more accommodating - I got a full-validity 5-year Canadian passport (only 2-year US passport) and on the SIN (Canadian equivalent of SSN) they changed the gender as well, just for asking.

I guess now that you're all done, we won't hear happy progress reports as often, but do please stick around and say Hi from time to time from The Real World.  Luv ya!

Hugs!

Malachite,
I don't know if all Universities and Colleges are like mine, but I called my registrars office and they allow for replacement diplomas. I sent them my application and fee. I had already changed my name and sex designation with alumni records. My old degree has been laying on the ground in its frame waiting for it to be corrected. Can't wait for it to be hung on the wall with pride once again!

This is pretty standard (and yay!). If anyone's university doesn't, show them the policy/form that other universities use and ask them to create a policy.

I finish my PhD next month, and I've thought about whether I want to change my name/gender on my records now. But it's too soon. So I'll convocate as male, and then just pay the fee ($20 plus getting an affidavit notarized) to change things afterward.

That's where I'm kind of at in my situation since I haven't transitioned yet.  I don't want to rush to get a name change.
