ByeBye

Well, I'm looking online at a vegan alternative to traditional sheepskin ugg boots called The Journee Collection. They look really nice and it doesn't take 8 sheep to make them.

http://www.amazon.com/Journee-Collection-Ladies-Inch-Suede/dp/B001GKQDB8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1330545538&sr=8-2

The question is this. I am a size 8 1/2 in mens boots.

What does this translate to for ladies?

Your answers would be very appreciated.

Add 2 to whatever size you are and that's the shoe size! I'd say 3 if you have wide feet

I wear a mens 8 1/2 and fit into a womens 10 1/2 to a 11.   Hope that helps you.

You should be able to fit into a ten.  And if you can't, you don't want the boots because you will look like Sasquatch.

Please read my novel, Dragonfly and the Pack of Three, available on Amazon - and encourage your local library to buy it too! We need realistic portrayals of trans people in literature, for all our sakes

You actually have to add 2 sizes (convert men's to women size) plus 1 more because of the thickness of the wool inside Unless you have skinny narrow feet. For example I'm a size 7- 71/2 and my ugg boots are size women's 10 :)

It doesn't take sheep to make them but it takes sheep to wear them. Seriously, they're too Ugg(ly) for outdoor use.

As for sizes, those boots are flexible, so you can probably get away with buying the same size as your men's shoes.

if i were you, I would go to the store and try them on.

The problem with UGGs is that they are kind of UGGly and if you get them too large, they are going to look ridiculous on your feet (like wearing Conan the Barbarian boots)

Plus, I only saw a handful of girls wear them this year. They are not very fashionable....and with Spring coming up, they're going to look ridiculous if you wear them outside...or inside

Being able to try on shoes helps a lot. I wore a guy's size eight... and have been wearing women's size 7.5 on average. Sometimes women's eight... sometimes seven - I was able to fit into a six one time, too. You really have to try things out. :)

Shoes are a problem if you're not trying them on. I used to wear a guys 9ish and find I usually fit either a 9.5 or 10 depending on the style and maker.

some people love them, some people don't. I know I love my pair and I wear them whenever I can! :)

I'm not saying they are not fashionable at all...just not as fashionable as they were. My main point was that if you get a pair of uggs that are even a little too big on you, they will looking viking fur boots.

Even when they are worn by the most beautiful girl, they still look like something Napoleon Dynamite would jam in ;)

To each their own!

Admittedly, I'm not really much of an UGG boots fan, but I'm certain they must look great on the right person in the right outfit  :)   After all I do believe they are even offered for sale at Victoria's Secret... What could go wrong?

You really should just find a place that sells them and try some on to figure your size, You can still buy them elsewhere

Anyway, these sweet moves are just too flippin' awesome to be ignored...

They make absolutely wonderful house shoes because they don't get too warm or too hot because natural wool has evolved to handle the temp ranges so well.

I've had mine on when I had to run from the house on a quick errand, but generally speaking I don't wear them out.  I wore them when I was in Chicago for my FFS because I hoped they'd be easier to manage than regular shoes.  I also wear them for a day or two after getting work on my leg sleeve since they don't really rub like jeans do sometimes.

But even if they were considered hideous and major fashion faux pas, I'd still keep a pair around the house because they are great all year round as house shoes and are fine to wear outside to check on the animals or get delivered packages.
Blessed Be!

I still see plenty of women wearing UGGs on campus.  I have some knock offs (cause I'm vegetarian) that I love cause they are nice and toasty, but I also hate them cause they make my feet look big.  Good news is the love conquers all!

I personally wouldn't wear them because even on ciswomen they look like they have stumpy feet. And it makes them shorter, and wider.

Buy them if you like them, but society might think your feet look bigger. It's safer to go with a nice pair of shoes with a little heel for us T-women.  Even if you're tall, 1 or 2 inches makes all the difference.
