I have been lurking websites for years believing I can't transition.  Well I've finally decided I can and will transition and am now taking care of myself.  I have a lot of work to do, including weight loss, but it will take less time to do that than it took me to come up with the confidence to do this.  I look forward to meeting you all, bugging people with silly questions, and sharing my experience along the way.

I was excited to have my first electrolysis tonight.  Excited enough that the pain really didn't matter.  I now have a TG therapist and will talk to my GP Tuesday about medical support for transition. So far, so good.

A big HI to Freya,

Welcome and lots of congratulations for being you.

You are totally welcome among this gang of marvellous people, we have lots of different stories and we have lots of different experiences.

I'm in Australia and at this time of day we are often the first to welcome people. That and we are very cute as well

So pull up a chair and tell us about yourself.

I'll just post the rules bit

Hi, and welcome to Susan's! We have people come to visit us from all over the world, expressing different points of view, and you are likely to find someone to help you along your way

Here are some important links and things to ponder as you begin your journey here.

Hi Freya,
Congratulations on taking the first real big step in a life long journey, and a big warm welcome to Susan's. Thank you for your introduction, and helping us to know and understand you a bit better, and thank you for putting your trust in us.

I'm really pleased you have made some very good decisions, regarding your weight and a good therapist. You have definately set yourself up for achieveing remarkable success in the future. Sorry to hear about your slow motion lobotomy .... er sorry .... electrolysis. I know how you are feeling. Going through that process right now, with no end in sight   I'd sooner go and play in peak hour traffic on the Harbour Bridge. It'd be quicker and less painful  (Oh now!! ..  who is the whimp?)

Don't worry about bugging any one here, I don't believe that is possible. We've all been there before. And as for silly questions, there is really only one. And that's the one you never ask. It's all very simple. Don't ask a question and you'll never get an answer. Now that is silly.

Hope to hear more from you in time to come, in the meantime, be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Cindy and Catherine,

Thanks so much for the warm welcome!!

  • A little about myself;
Single dad (50% custody since daughters were 4 and 1 years old)
    Daughters are 13 and 17
Daughters know I am starting transition
Can't wait to become a woman, but will be patient enough for best results
Biggest fear is transition at work
I am a US Federal employee and work for a very senior military Command
At least there are Federal Regulations protecting my transition
No fear of doing what it takes to transition as best I can

Hi Freya,
Good to hear you have a lasting relationship with your daughters. Another aspect that makes the journey a little more bearable.

Wish you every success at work, when the time comes. Just don't become a stranger and fight this battle on your own. There are plenty here that have, or are currently serving your mighty country. And thanks for doing your 'bit,' we feel it on this side of the 'Creek' too.

Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs
Catherine

Hi and welcome aboard from yet another Aussie.  We're like ants at a picnic, into everything!
There are quite a few serving and former service personnel on board the S.S. Susan's Place, no doubt they will make themselves known as time goes on.
Congratulations on coping with electro, I opted for laser due to needle phobia.  Not looking forward to having it downstairs one bit.  :o
Sounds like you have worked out a good plan of action, and I am glad your daughters are behind you.

Karen.
