I've been trying to convince my parents to let me transition for a while with no success. i started a new school last week and I managed to go to school as male behind my parents back because my birth name is unisex so I made them believe that there had been a mistake and that I'm male (i pass 100%). they might catch on though if they call my parents or something and uses pronouns. for now it's good enough, they were gonna try to fix it and double check stuff though so I dunno what will happen later on but i'm hoping for the best. anyhow, any advice on what i could say or anything, I have no idea what to or say or anything to my parents. :/

Are they vehemently opposed to you transitioning, or do they just not really understand it? If it is the latter, perhaps you could try seeing if they would take you to see a therapist that specializes in transgender issues? Or show them videos of other trans-guys so they realize it is something possible? Documentary-type things? If it is the former, well then you might just have to wait it out. I had to do that also because my mom wouldn't let me transition.

As far as your school situation... Well, I guess if you wanted to tell your parents about it, that could be done after you got them on your side with the methods described above. If they find out and aren't happy about it, there isn't much you can do formally, but you could politely ask each teacher to refer to you with male pronouns/etc. And if there is some sort of LGBT club at your school, you could get their support.

Hopefully that helps a bit? Also, welcome to Susan's, Jeffrey!

only advise I can give is always to be 1 step in front of your parrents, and be the clever one.

Dont expect your parent to figure out anything, and if they make comments/excuses make sure your have checked your stuff and know what your talking about in such a way that if they check it for themself they will realise your right.

just a warning...I can see a lot of ways that your parents might find out about this...especially during parent teacher conferences which happened at least twice a year when I was in school...wish you luck
