"They walk better in heels than us," said another young woman.

"They" were the performers for "An Evening of Female Impersonation," a drag show sponsored by East Carolina University's chapter of B-GLAD — Bisexuals, Gays, Lesbians and Allies for Diversity — for Diversity Week. The Student Government Association and Ledonia Wright Cultural Center also sponsored the event.

Inside, the room was filled to maximum occupancy, leaving those in line to wait impatiently for a chance to see the show.

Young adults of nearly every race, gender and sexual orientation surrounded the short runway wearing cropped jeans, T-shirts and dresses (boys included, of course).
