wow, there are some great passes here. ^_^
So, the other week, I was changing a rear brake caliper and rotor on my Blazer when one of the neighbors came by. It was the first time we had met. She was looking to borrow a lawn mower. Anyway, she asked me what I was doing and I told her and mentioned that I wanted this car safe to drive when I start truck driving. her eyes went wide and she asked, "Are you a mechanical?"
"Actually, no. I'm just winging it. Its nothing hard really."
She nodded silently and asked if I wanted help. Her brother was just up the street. We could hear him yelling as he and his friend drank beer. I said I was fine and I could do it on my own. Then my son came outside and she asked me if he was my son. I introduced him to her and she said, " well, whats he gonna do if you drive truck? You cant leave him alone."
"He wont be, my spouse is inside."
"Oh, so you're leaving him with his Dad."
"No, his Mom."
"Ah... wait, his Mom? So who had him?"
"My wife. I cant have kids."
"How come? Hystorectomy?"
"Yea, something like that."
"Ah, so you don't got your periods anymore."
"Not the messyness anyway. Some people still get what they call "phantom periods".
"Ah, I dont get mine anymore neither and I dont miss 'em one bit!"
And the conversation carried a little while longer.
in the end, my homophobic brother in law changed the brake pads and rotors for me. all i did was hand him parts and tools. For someone who doesnt see me as female he sure treats me like one some days. Lol.
