This is sort of an odd pass. I wasn't out in public and wasn't even visible.
The phone rang and I answered. On the other end I recognized the voice of my mother-in-law. I said "Hello?" She replied, "Hello <Spouse's Name>." I paused and said, "Oh! She's not here." A corresponding pause and "She's not? To whom am I speaking?" Finally, it dawned on her... "Oh, this is <My Male Name>?" "Yes, can I take a message for her?" "Just tell her I called and to call me back, please."
I was amused. Very very amused. You have to realize that I've known these people for 37 years now. Well, actually 45, since we knew each other since 4th grade but anyway, I've known this woman for a long, long time. The fact that she had no clue who I was on the phone and that she thought I was her daughter left me grinning from ear to ear.
