lads and lasses, apologies for yet another tread/post from me in about 2 days. I wasn't sure whether to put this in the 'do i pass?' thread because it's more asking opinions on which colour tie to go for

I'm going to a wedding reception tomorrow night y'see, and I have ties of different colours but unsure of which to go for, that's hopefully where you lot come in  :P There isn't a dresscode as such, she just said to wear what's comfortable but I want to look smart

so..we have grey

not the best pics I admit

anyway, which would you go for?  I think I also may have a navy tie with white polka dots somewhere aswell

I like the grey tie, do you have any striped ties?

You look very sharp in the 3rd & 4th pic. =P

I like the grey one.  Goes well with the coat.

The black (or is it dark blue?) looks more formal and they grey looks more casual. Unless you're playing a major role in the wedding I'd go with grey.

- Collar is too wide and too fat, so too is the knot.  Tighten it up.  Use an Oxford collar if need be (and it tends to).  You should NEVER see the shirt between the tie and the collar.  And the tips of the collar should be visible, not under the suit coat.  In general, it seem like the suit coat collar is riding up, not laying flat.

- Kerchief in the suit always matches the tie, NEVER the shirt.  Better yet drop it.

- Solid color tie is great, are you serving dinner or just seating people?  Get something with color, and some sort of pattern or else you look like a service worker.  Or get a colored shirt, otherwise people are going to be asking you to bus the table.  So...the gray tie would be good with a dark suit and dark shirt (kinda Guido, still), but find some color.  Use the poka dots if you need to, but buying a nice colorful one would be better.

- It looks like the suit is wearing you, not vice-versa.

According my partner (cisguy) a tie should offset the shirt, it adds more color. So, between those two, grey.

If you have only the two to choose from I would definitely go with the grey.

I think gray and gray is best together.

I think grey tie, and either have a handkerchief that matches the tie or go without.
Generally speaking if you're going to a celebratory event, going with a lighter colour tie is more appropriate.  A nice subtle pattern usually doesn't go astray either.
The collar of the shirt does seem a little wide to me as well - they seem to be threatening to spill over the collar of your jacket.

Hope you have a great time!

Sleeves are about an inch, maybe a half inch too long. You want to see a little bit of your shirt cuff. I would go with a colored tie. There's just too much neutral for my taste. If forced to pick, I'd go with grey.

I like the first 3 pictures.  Go with grey.

The grey tie would look much better against a dark (charcoal) grey shirt, or a striped shirt.

His event is over.

But I think the style is a little old for you. It doesn't fit well, it looks like you're wearing someone else's suit. The features are a bit too big and it doesn't look tailored at all. They sell slim and even skinny fit suits. I think those would look better.
