Once Again: Transgender Does Not Equal Gay

The news stories about Jenna Talackova and the anti-LGBT bills being passed in Russia are highlighting once again the struggles the media and political/public figures, as well as many others, are having with terminology.

In Russia, the reports on the anti-LGBT bills are a different matter. There and in reporting all over the world, the statements in the media and from politicians and others are all about "the anti-gay bills" and "promoting homosexuality to minors." Thing is, the bills are also targeting trans folks (and bisexual folks) — and we all know that being trans does not automatically mean you are gay, right? Just as, being gay doesn't automatically mean you are trans, right?
