Like the title says I now have my driver's license in my chosen name. It feels awesome! But I so don't give a crap about anything else! It would cost me over $200 to send original copies of all my ID to everyone out there who I have to deal with so I'm just simply not doing it. They'll continue to get paid from the same bank account so f--- it. It's really just killing the buzz & hype of having a license that shows the real me!

Thanks! It feels awesome! I always felt like I was forced to assume someone else's identity - and now I'm me.  8)

That's awesome!  Congrats!

I got mine a couple of months ago...isn't it an AWESOME feeling?!  Cloud 9 doesn't even begin to describe it.  I couldn't stop smiling for DAYS!

Congratulations. Mine was pretty recent too. Very happy stuff. ;D

I don't understand why changing your info would cost much money, though. My bank, doctors, bill collectors, voting registration, school stuff, etc etc etc was all pretty annoying to deal with but didn't cost anything. I just showed them the court order and the ID. Nobody asked to keep an original copy. I hope you can get it worked out so you have fewer and fewer contacts with your old name. Good luck. :)

Congratulations! :)

Most places that want ID will ask for your licence, so it is really the most important one to get done.

Because every single credit card, my debt consolidation place, my student loans, and everything else all want to be mailed an official copy of my name change order, birth certificate, my drivers license, and social security card to update their records. Forget it, they're not getting all of that. I can't give all of that to everyone.

Ah. Yeah. I don't have any credit cards, my student loans are all federal, and I haven't done any third-party debt consolidation. I don't even own an original copy of my birth certificate. I've had to jump through a lot of hoops but I guess I'm lucky in some bureaucratic respects. Companies I owe money to have all seemed thrilled that I informed them of my new name instead of making myself harder to find. :P
