Does anyone know if the doctor would test for suboxone (for those who don't know, this is a drug to help prevent withdrawal symptoms. you CANNOT get high from taking it.) when they do the blood test? i thought i read somewhere on this forum that a guy couldn't get T until he tested negative for marijuana, so i don't know. i'm afraid of bringing this up with any doctor in case they write it down and make it hell for me to get T later on. Thanks for the help everybody.

As a MTF, I was only tested for E, T, CMP, prolactin, thyroid on my first blood draw.
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

I know where you're coming from friend, good on you for getting help.

I wouldn't worry about it.

Suboxone contains Buprenorphine and Naloxone. Naloxone's only in there to discourage abuse and I can't imagine there's any risk that they'd even consider testing for it.

Buprenorphine can be used recreationally, but it's metabolised into the opioid receptor agonist Norbuprenorphine. It's not a natural opiate nor does it metabolize into one and I'm 99.9% sure won't show up on a drug test for opiates or any other conventional drug test.

And even if it did, it's HIGHLY unlikely they'd test you for drugs, even testing for Marijuana would be pretty unlikely. I don't blame you for not telling them. But even if you did tell them, hopefully if they're reasonable they'll see you've already sought help for your addiction.

Try not to worry, if you don't tell them I can't see any way they would detect it in the off chance they even tested for drugs and on the off chance that test included a test for opiates.

Suboxone hadn't has an effect on my HRT, and no they won't find it even if they do test you for drugs (not my finest moment but the RAN never found it and they do some hefty tests).

I am furiously trying to drop Sub all together, though, as I'm supposed to quit for surgery. It has helped so much, but then so has transitioning. Being trans was the primary issue  unaddressed issue that led to my opiate addiction. Drugs numbed the dysphoria...at first...and dealing with the dysphoria issues rather removed my desire to use at all, tho like a good addict I'm still very careful around any pills (oh and get this I do tell my doctor to please not prescribe opiates...ha never ever thought I'd say that!)

As they say...drug abuse is merely a symptom. Quitting suboxone is happening at a natural pace the more I deal with those issues....ha do I ever knowwhat it's like so, of course, youre not alone! :)
