http://reneejamesauthor.com/2012/04/03/rachel-pollacks-secret-trans-mystery/A friend of mine introduced me to Rachel Pollack recently by loaning me A Secret Woman, the only mystery-genre novel Ms. Pollack has written, to date.
Rachel Pollack is a critically acclaimed novelist in the science fiction/fantasy genre and author of some 20 non-fiction books about Tarot, a subject about which she is considered an authority. She has also authored and illustrated comic books and greeting cards, published poetry and short stories, and written about the transgender experience. She is, one critic declared, a modern incarnation of Michelangelo. She is also a transwoman.
A Secret Woman is a murder mystery that tells two stories. In one, acclaimed detective Simon Goldtree investigates the murder of a man with ties to a vicious gangster even after another suspect confesses. In the other, Simon Goldtree comes face-to-face with his true self after a lifetime of denial and becomes Emma.
