Oh well in that case, I'd try to look for another Dr. I know people do start on T before they're done with puberty. Some as young as 14/15. Sounds like this might be a case of gatekeeping.

If your parents are supportive and have the resources, they can go online and find an endo who will consider puberty blockers and (whether sooner or later), T.

If your doctor is a general practitioner, it's not surprising that she doesn't have the indepth knowledge to provide you with medical interventions. And to her credit, treating teenagers with hormones (androgens or blockers) is a pretty recent practice.

And I agree with Andy about your language. Being frustrated is one thing, but using gender-bashing isn't cool in my book. I'm not a mod, so am just expressing my own perspective here.

That very well could be the case.  There also could be more to the story than what we're receiving too.

If his doctor is working at a medical foundation or clinic that has a contract with his insurance provider, she very well could be restricted to certain areas of care.  I live in one of the 16 states where medical marijuana is legal.  Around here though it's uncommon to find a general care practitioner working in a family practice, clinic or foundation who will write a prescription for medical marijuana OR testosterone (as they're not normally covered by insurance) because it is explicitly forbidden in their contract.  They can however recommend or refer you to a clinic that will, which would be the ethical thing to do.  (Unless you had a pre-existing condition that would cause serious health complications, then it would be their duty to tell you that.)

Your doctor may be thinking of you i am unsure how old you are but did you no that T stops you growing taller! so many doctors decide to leave it until your finshed growing also you could ask about hormones blockers that way you will still grow ect but not change.

Talk to your doctor as questions and also ask what can be done now!

Probably what the dr was referring to is that the timing of testosterone surges in puberty is a big factor in the plates at the end of long bones closing off - in other words, stopping their growth. There are some complex variables differentiating people born female versus those born male, but thatsme and the doctor have a line on some real information.
