Sea-Sam

I went to my BITCHY big eyed doctor today. She says the law doesn't allow me to get T until I'm an adult.

What is this BS?

How am I supposed to live?

Don't you need a parent's consent before 18?

  •

Sea-Sam

I have parents consent.

She says it will screw up my body because I haven't grown all the way.

Oh well in that case, I'd try to look for another Dr. I know people do start on T before they're done with puberty. Some as young as 14/15. Sounds like this might be a case of gatekeeping.

Sounds like your doctor has mixed up her personal opinions with her job. You should ask about seeing another doctor, that bitch is crazy lol.

Sea-Sam

Thats what I told her!

Ugh yeah.. definitely need a new doctor.

Aside from the sexist language I agree.

The professional guidelines for endocrinologists are available online, and include recommendations for adolescents.  http://www.endo-society.org/guidelines/final/upload/Endocrine-Treatment-of-Transsexual-Persons.pdf

If your parents are supportive and have the resources, they can go online and find an endo who will consider puberty blockers and (whether sooner or later), T.

If your doctor is a general practitioner, it's not surprising that she doesn't have the indepth knowledge to provide you with medical interventions. And to her credit, treating teenagers with hormones (androgens or blockers) is a pretty recent practice.

And I agree with Andy about your language. Being frustrated is one thing, but using gender-bashing isn't cool in my book. I'm not a mod, so am just expressing my own perspective here.

I didn't use it with the intention of gender-bashing, or out of frustration. It's just a word I use a lot; I call lots of people bitches including friends. Bitches be trippin' . . .

That very well could be the case.  There also could be more to the story than what we're receiving too.

If his doctor is working at a medical foundation or clinic that has a contract with his insurance provider, she very well could be restricted to certain areas of care.  I live in one of the 16 states where medical marijuana is legal.  Around here though it's uncommon to find a general care practitioner working in a family practice, clinic or foundation who will write a prescription for medical marijuana OR testosterone (as they're not normally covered by insurance) because it is explicitly forbidden in their contract.  They can however recommend or refer you to a clinic that will, which would be the ethical thing to do.  (Unless you had a pre-existing condition that would cause serious health complications, then it would be their duty to tell you that.)

Hopefully you'll grow out of that bad habit.

Not necessarily a bad habit depending on how you look at the usage of it. It's funny how you think it's okay to tell me what are bad habits of mine and you don't even know me.

Your doctor may be thinking of you i am unsure how old you are but did you no that T stops you growing taller! so many doctors decide to leave it until your finshed growing also you could ask about hormones blockers that way you will still grow ect but not change.

Talk to your doctor as questions and also ask what can be done now!

Lolwhat?

Lolwhat?

wtf indeed, dude. There's not a lot of evidence to, ah, back that up.

Anyway, I'm in the same boat as you, OP. Just shop around and don't continue to see this doctor. If you had any blood work done, make her give the results to you and just go somewhere else.

I won't lie, I didn't even watch that clip, and your doctor is full of ->-bleeped-<-  :D

And apparently I'm moody today ;D

But seriously. Lol

Just throwing it out there, that if testosterone stopped people growing, CIS lads would be short as ->-bleeped-<-, and I wouldn't feel terrible for only being five foot ->-bleeped-<- all.

It sounds like something made up to frighten children like Santa Claus and the tooth fairy

yes i agree they can talk out there butt!!
I imagine that they have run some checks however like you said we are all ginnie pigs!
  •

MrTesto

Probably what the dr was referring to is that the timing of testosterone surges in puberty is a big factor in the plates at the end of long bones closing off - in other words, stopping their growth. There are some complex variables differentiating people born female versus those born male, but thatsme and the doctor have a line on some real information.

Guys call each other bitches. It is common in my area to call another guy a bitch if he is being nit-picky.
