So I'm looking for any transgender/transexual FTM/MTF people in the winston-salem area of north carolina that are willing to meet up for discussions and well helping support each other. I just broke the news to my mother and it went over about 0% well....she's convinced i'm killing her daughter and only doing it to spite her and spit in gods face....I imagine this is a typical LDS/old school christian reaction....but its still hard and I have no one to really talk to about everything associated with this transition. Any support would be great!
Thanks, Jay

Triad Gender Association - http://triadgender.org/ - might have more information. Unfortunately, being in the Triangle, I don't know much about Triad resources. The closest group I know about (and with which I have any experience) is the NC Harms Reduction Coalition's group that meets in Chapel Hill.

I'm hoping TGA has something better on offer for exactly that reason. It was long enough when I made the drive from Chapel Hill to Greensboro many times while I was doing voice therapy at UNC-G.

I need to find a good voice therapist but I don't know if I should do that before or after I start taking T. I also need to start working out and was thinking about going to Crossfit, do you know if they're any good and worth the buck?

I know nothing about them; I workout (cardio and Nautilus machines) at a gym my employer operates so I have little information on that front.

Hiya Jaykyle, I live in Pinehurst, well close enough, but anyways just wanted to say hello and hope things are going well for you.  ;D Yeah forgot to tell alittle about myself lol. Im 32 MtF been doing it for almost 3 years now and loving it :) I was in the same situition as you with the family and religious back ground, its not the easiest thing to deal with but it can be done. If you need someone to talk to I'm here. :)

doesn't seem to be many easily found transpeople on the coast. I know one other locally, but we have so little in common other than just being trans that its hard to really connect with them as other than just an acquaintance. I'm about three hours ENE of Wilmington.

Its what I call the Piedmont area, the taint, that middle spot between the coast and the mountains. Kind of a shortened version of "it ain't the mountains and it ain't the beach."   It also is a term for a spot on a person's body that some people use, lol.   I started calling it that due to a friend of mine from Salisbury always going at me about being a flatlander now. Its just all in fun.
