they reallllyyyyy do not mix! Guess it's out with the coffee and in with the hrt ^^. Anyone else experience some dizzyness with these? Or just with spiro alone? My doc said that's fine in the beginning as our body acclimates.

I never had any issues and I am a very heavy coffee drinker. But then I can sleep shortly after drinking coffee too.

Spiro lowers the blood pressure, which could be responsible for your dizziness. Coffee in the other hand, increases your blood pressure, and thus has an opposite effect to those of spiro. Did you suffer from low blood pressure and/or dizziness before spiro? How about low sugar?

Aren't they both also diuretics?

Spiro made me lightheaded for a few weeks as I got used to it, I think that's pretty normal. I drink a cup or two a day and don't have issues with it.

Then again you might not be able to drink coffee and take spiro, everyone is different..

Spironolactone is primarily used as a diuretic - it lowers blood pressure by reducing the overall volume of liquid in your vascular system.

Caffiene (which is in coffee) is also a diuretic but to a weaker degree.  If you're feeling lightheaded, it may be that your blood pressure is dropping too low - the solution is to either stop the coffee, or the better one is to start drinking a lot more water.  (Or if you get really desperate - drink decaf...)

The chances are that your body will adjust, but keep the water intake up as a precaution.

They are both diauretics, but caffeine does not risess your blood preassure. So, it is not the coffee!!!

I agree with drinking more water if you aren't drinking enough (at least 8 8oz beverage a day) but I caution against drinking a LOT more water. You can go overboard and drink so much that you are constantly peeing and you start flushing good stuff out of you + strain your kidneys etc. If you exercise, are in hot environment etc where you are sweating, that can create a need for more water too. I honestly don't think it is caffeine that is creating your dizziness.

Ohhh... this is a difficult one. You're asking to choose between to very important drugs....
Which one?  Which One?   ;D

In all seriousness check with your doctor -  http://www.drugs.com/spironolactone.html
