I was wondering if any of you have undergone SRS in Europe. Most of you obviously choose Thailand, but I am thinking about having it done here. If any of you have any experience, or information, let me know, thanks :)

there are several good doctors in Europe.

Dr Bellringer in London, Dr Iván Mañero in Barcelona, Dr Miro Djordjevic in Belgrade, Dr Monstrey in Belgium. They all perform penile inversion technique, and they all deliver very good results. The prices are the same like with the Thai doctors and some even charge much more then the Thai doctors do. I believe they are all very good doctors.

Thank you for the information! Could You list other doctors, who don't charge that much? :) I don't think I will be able to save that much money, and I would prefer to have the surgery in a year or two years time, I will be thankful :)

You never go for the price. There are many doctors doing SRS in Europe but I will not list any for you because I don't think you need a cheap doctor for your SRS.
Girlfriend, in Europe you can easily get a credit, or several credit cards from different banks and get your SRS paid. :) That is very easy and you don't have to wait for two years. You can get it done in the near future. They can not take your vagina away in case you don'y pay the credit :)
Where about Europe are you from?

I had SRS in '84 in Groningen, Netherlands.
I can't complain about the results, it's still working properly.
In all those years I had sex with men and women, never had any complains.
So, yes I'm very satisfied about it.
I can't give you the name of the doctor coz, the man is retired and enjoying the rest on his old day.

Croatia??  ::)

Why? :D I am Polish.

I didn't want to undergo srs in my country cuz 99% of the patients very often have pain and complications afterwards... Then they have to come back to hospital to do some other surgeries to fix it, I know a girl who had like 5 additional, crazy...

So the main goal for me is health, so there would be no complications (I know that no doctor can guarantee me that, but you know what I mean), basically so everything would be as it should :)

Annette, but this doctor from the Netherlands is not performing the surgery anymore, right?

Thanks for all the suggestions!!!

I am glad you are aware of how the things can go wrong with SRS. So don't let the price make you choose your doctor. Apply for credit cards and for credits, I am sure that you will soon have the money to go to a decent doctor

crowcrowcrow.

forget about England as it is seriously expensive and may be difficult to arrange as they may not accept Polish shrink's papers.

I doubt if 99% of post-ops have serious trouble unless Polish surgeons are as transphobic as the one I met in my local hospital.

Start saving for Thailand would be your best option.

It's not about transphobia, it's about lack of profession. Check here to see the result (at right). Not only does it look scary, but I read loads of negative opinions. I saw even one girl talking about it on tv, and she was really disappointed.

Thailand doctors are good, but there is many of them, who really can f* sth up, so dont glorify them ;) I think I am gonna have to think it over anyway, thanks for suggestions!

This doctor is retired, but the doctors who came after him are the same quality.
There are two centers in The Netherlands who will do SRS and who gave the experience for it.
VU medical center in Amsterdam and University Medical Center Groningen.
Other than in other countries we don't have great names of surgeons, here it's teamwork for all the healthcare-workers who are involved, the surgeon is one of the team members who is doing the final step.
But with a 30+ years of experience with SRS, they make good results.

I don't know anything about costs and insurancecovering because as a Dutchgirl everything is covered.
Hope this will help you.

Hugs
Annette

So, even though I created this topic 4 months ago I decided to share my thoughts.

I sent many e-mails, many enquiries to european surgeons who perform SRS, and my advice to every one here is simply go to Thailand.

European surgeons have either dirty records (complications after surgeries, patients' complaints etc.) or unreasonable prices...

It makes more sense to pay a little bit more (and I mean really little, slight difference or sometimes even no difference at all) and go to Thailand than do it here.

Cheers girls!

What are you basing this on exactly?

ALL surgeons have had complications. Are you basing this on price?

Could you elaborate further your decision to dismiss all European surgeons, as it doesn't make sense.

Honestly, I'd rather go with an european which is 5 minutes away from my home rather than having a complication on the other side of the world. Although mine is a special case since it is covered by SS.

Well, all of the surgeons may have had complications, but there is a big difference let's say between Suporn and Djordjevic, when it comes to opinions about their surgeries.

I don't refer mainly to the "lack of sexual feeling", "lack of attraction", "less sensitivity" thing, because it's individual case, I strictly refer to the medical complications that tend to have impact on our day-to-day life. Like pain, discomfort, and issues that really can happen to anyone.

Many of european surgeons have a "clear" record, where you really don't tend to find anything negative about their surgeries, but the price is really high, and it makes more sense to go to Thailand, since opinions are stunningly positive and the price range is better.

Yes, Thai doctors charge LESS than good european doctors, the standard sort of price tends to be around 15 thousand euros or 10 thousand pounds, whereas the most expensive one which is Suporn is about 13 thousand euros, but obviously there is a whole range of really good doctors apart from Suporn that take significantly less like Chettawut, which is less then 9 thousand euros.

Obviously SRS surgeon choice is a personal thing, someone can prefer to do it locally and pay more, because such long trip can be really challenging and I don't judge and I am not saying you're doing it wrong or anything, this is just my personal view, since the price is a really huge criteria for me, but foremost I value lack of any discomfort, any complications, just anything that could disturb my day-to-day life.

There are several good doctors in Germany who perform SRS.

I had mine 14 days ago with Prof Susanne Krege and her staff. Prof Krege did over 500 SRS's since 1997. She does only perform the penile inversion technique without or with scrotal graft. No colovaginoplasty or Chonburi flap, afaik. My healing has been good so far. I have a second operation (labiaplasty & urethral correction) in 6-8 weeks.

Costs are somewhere between 12-15k Euro.

Congratulations. I wish I had the courage to truly want to do it...

I had mine in Iceland, performed by a Swedish doctor named Gunnar Kratz. He's been doing it for many years and is really good at what he does. I am incredibly happy with my results and everything worked out so well.

I am not exactly sure how it works in Sweden with the costs and everything, but in Iceland the surgery is completely free of cost. But I suppose you have to have a living permit or citizenship to be able to get that.

This in fact was one of the first things I got aware of when I woke up in the recovery room. "I did it." And I didn't miss anything. Of course, there was the pain, discomfort and I was very weak from the operation. But I did feel natural.

Give your decision some time. In my eyes, it is normal to have doubts because it is not just like taking hormones or getting an Adam's Apple shaved. Recovery from SRS is a long process. I started with hormones eight years ago and delayed SRS two times in the past three years due to other stuff I wanted to do prior.

Same in Germany. In general, SRS (vaginoplasty & labiaplasty) are provided by the public health funds. Many TG women even get breast augmentation for free. I know of one case who even had a partial FFS paid by her insurance company.

During my SRS I was in hospital with a gal from Brazil. She had married a German man a couple of years ago and got all her surgeries (vaginoplasty, labiaplasty and a revision operation) funded by the public health funds. But she still has Brazil citizenship.

Thanks. Sometimes I want to think that I don't need it, but when I look back at mi last sex experiencies and that sensation of having the wrong organs... (Even before realizing the dysphoria). It feels as the last frontier. I hope someday my mind will be fully clear.
