I'm getting my shot a week late b/c the nurse is unable to give me the shot until next Tuesday. Is that okay to do? I feel like I'm gonna revert back to female if the shot is a week late. Anyone else been a week late with their shot?

You'll be fine; nothing will revert back in a week. You may feel tired having missed a shot, but you'll be ok.

Cool. Thanks. I'm okay with being tired. I Just hate missing a shot since I still don't pass as male. I feel like it's delaying the process.

Yeah I know what you mean. In the beginning of my transition I missed a week here and there due to traveling & felt all weird about it.
  •

Dominick_81

Really? That sucks. Do you do your own injections now so you don't miss shots?

Oh yeah--I had my first 3 shots done @ my doc's office & I've done all the rest myself. My missed shots were due to my not being @ home when my package of T (I mail order it) arrived, things like that.

I've missed several shots (my own fault) and I haven't reverted back or anything.  It doesn't work like that.

I think I've even been a month between shots.  No ill effects besides being a bit tired and more acne.

You won't revert back.  Perhaps now is a good time to try doing your own shots?  It's something that is good to learn/be able to do because you will have to take T for the rest of your life and it could be inconvenient to need nurses to do it for you for the rest of your life.

If it makes you feel any better I've once been 3 months overdue for a shot. No seriously adverse effects (I'm still alive at any rate :P), aside from feeling progressively crappier and lethargic. Many of the effects are actually largely psychological; as you've identified it kind of feels like you're delaying the process but seriously, try not to stress too much about it. The shot will come and it will take more than a week to undo months of testosterone :]

More acne? Really? That sucks.

@hyenateeth: Thanks. That does make me feel better.

My T dosage was recently increased b/c by the end of the first week the T was running low in my body so I don't know where I stand with my T levels. I have to have so many shots so I could get my t levels checks, but I'm missing a week and I feel I'm gonna have to wait longer to get my T levels check and get my dosage right.

I'm hoping to switch to over to the gel packets or that other T form, the one you put under your arm  so I don't run into this problem again and so I don't have to worry about my fear of needles.  My insurance is now covering most of my T so I'm hoping it will cover a different form of taking my T even if a higher price.

I assume this is in response to my comment.  Yeah, I get more acne toward of the end of my T cycle.  The less T I have, the worse my acne is.  It's very strange because most guys have more acne at the peak.  Not sure why mine is backward.  If you are the other way around (acne at peak), then you will probably see less problems or flare ups than normal.

@Adio: that sucks that happens like that. I would think the less T in your body the less acne you get.

Just hoping that since I'm missing a week with my shot that it won't make my acne flare up even more if the T is out of my body and then back in my body again.

Sorry Andy, I missed your reply, just saw it now.

I'm so terrified of needles there's no possible way I could ever do it myself. I never look when the nurse gives me my shot. I constantly worry the week of my shot b/c I'm so nervous about it. I'm hoping to change over to the gel packets or the under the arm T, but that only depends on how much my insurance will cover.

As far as price goes, before I did shots I used Androgel; I have insurance and it cost me about $70 / month. Not bad at all though my being on injections costs about $120 / YEAR. I too had a fear of needles & was pretty damn anxious as my shot day would creep up but as soon as I did my first shot by myself, I was like, 'oh ok i got this'. So--give yourself a chance! :) Not knocking the other methods of taking T at all, just sayin'.

You've been on T for over a year right? I doubt you'll even notice a week without it. I mean, you will because you know and you'll be thinking about it but I'm sure you wouldn't notice otherwise. If anything you might feel a little more tired and/or moody but again that's prob the placebo effect more than anything else.

@smittyFTM: Yeah, I wish I was able to give myself my own injections but I just can't. Even if I did try to do it on my own, I wouldn't be able to look while I gave myself the injection and I'd probably take the needle right out and not be able to finish the injection.

@lexical: I've been on T for about a year and 4 months. I look exactly the same as I did pre-T except T has made me stockier looking which I hate and gave me acne and hair in places I don't want, that's all T has done for me, and I get anxiety about missing my shot for a week b/c I feeling it's delaying my changes.

How can you look exactly the same? I mean I know that EVERYONE reacts differently to T and that everyone's body is different but you can't look EXACTLY the same. And maybe you should talk to a therapist. So you can do something about your anxiety. Maybe they can help you see how you have changed. I'm sure there are changes. You just have to be willing to look at them even if they are subtle.

Dominick do you have a friend or something that can do it? I've been on T for about 8 months and I administered every shot myself except for the first one... there have been times though, that I get a little anxiety and can't stab myself. When this happens, I see if a friend can do it. I had my dad's girlfriend do it a few times (she's a nurse) and a friend of mine do it twice.

Also, your voice has deepened I'm sure? Also, I don't even see how you're not passing. I have seen your pics, and to me you pass... and it's difficult for people to pass to me. If I saw you, I would think you were a guy... unless there's something about your mannerisms? Do you think you could post  a video or pm me one or something? (If you haven't already..)

And as others have said, a week will not cause anything to revert. You may be moody, tired, sluggish, and not feel well... but I get like that at the end of my cycle sometimes.

And back to the T not working for you, as you say.. how long are you going to give it? Your voice will remain the same as it is now if you go off of T. If it really isn't doing anything, and you don't want more facial hair, then you may wanna consider going off of it? If you work out you may have a more difficult time formulating muscle mass after going off, but other than that.. if you say T isnt working for you.. then you probably wouldn't lose much else...
