Therapists for a minor?

I'm living in southern Missisippi and I'm almost 18 years old, so not only am I looking for any recommended therapists in southern Mississippi, I'm also looking for any in New Orleans, Mobile, or Jackson areas.

I also heard that because of my age, I may be qualified to get some sort of approval to immediately start hormones? thanks

You can search by state, county, or city, and you can filter for professionals with GLBT experience.

If you have any problems, just post here and I will help you walk through it.

If college is in your present or future, I would strongly urge you to look at the benefits provided by the college and through the student health plans.  These could include psychological therapy services and HRT.

i live in louisiana in the st tammany parish district and ... im bout to turn 18 but im seeing a tharapist in New Orleans. Her name is Lynn Friedman but unfortunatly she wont approve hormones immediately cause ive been seeing her for almost 6 or 8 months and shes just starting to talk bout giving me the letter but shes still deciding. She did tell me that shes waiting till im 18 cause my dad dont want me to get on hormones cause he dont accept me and he told her that he would sue her if she gave me the letter, so she said shes gonna wait so he wont be able to sue her since ill be a legal adult. hope i helped

I'm going to look into her as well, my birthday is in November, but my mother would approve me for hormones if it came to that point.  My main goal right now is to get therapy started because I really want to be hormones by my freshman year in college.

The general policy for Susan's is not to allow the posting ages for minors (under 18)

However, sometimes the need of minors, who are nearly of age, outweigh the other considerations.
