What are "male" glasses? How are they different from "female" glasses?
It's been suggested I get "male" glasses to help me pass, but I don't know the difference. :embarrassed:

There's usually a male and female section at the glasses store. Sometimes there's a selection of 'unisex' too. Male glasses are often larger (for larger heads, bone structures, etc). I'm not sure if it's universal but the female glasses were too tight in fit compared to the male ones last time I bought some.

You'll know which is which because all the cool colors will be in the female section.  ::)

They are significantly different, ;) at least i my opinion. Girls use rather round, large, shapely glasses, and sometimes smaller but will have some style aspect into it, and a million choices for frame colours. We never find it enough still. Men usually prefer simpler shapes, things that actually scream male! Perhaps you are using something feminine, just go to a shop, and see what makes you look more masculine. Trust me, just pick the most boring one :P lol.

I recently got new glasses ... I got mine from the male section and I think they make a difference

the frame and lens size differ greatly, although the newer "hip" look for men are large lenses... much more gender neutral.

but most often, women's frames will be more delicate, and have ornate stems...

Men's will be more streamlined.

Just google "men's sunglasses" (or glasses) and women's under images, and take a look.  Frames do make a large difference.

I'm not sure, I picked two pairs - one from male and one from female but I can't remember which is which. I think the male looking ones are female and the female looking ones are male, I'm not sure.

I can't tell consistently in the store. I need them to tell me which is which.

When I was younger I got some "male" glasses that were very well recieved. I left them in a classroom somewhere and the next day a student held them up and said "I'VE FOUND SOME GLASSES." (it was a big room) "THEY'RE GIRL GLASSES. HAS ANYONE LOST SOME GIRL GLASSES?" I couldn't see the glasses because, well, I didn't have my glasses and I was too embarassed to suggest that the "girl glasses" might actually be mine. When I went and checked after class, though, they were indeed my glasses.

Which apparently means other people can't tell either.

When I had to get new glasses the place I went to didn't have a male and female section  :)   The various frames were all categorized by price range so I just picked out some frames in my price range that looked feminine to me... Somewhat light weight metallic purple  ;D

The lady working there gave me a rather cheeky smile, said they looked good on me and happily rang them up  :)

Hmm I prefer metallic colours (or black, but bronze and the like are better) to colours like purple or whatever when it comes to glasses. Is there anything I should know about those colours?
I found some steampunk looking ones. ;D Well, sort of. They're round and gold coloured. With my luck, they're probably "girly" and I just can't tell. ::)
How about rectangular shapes. Are those "girly?"

Are we talking about sunglasses or everyday glasses?

For sunglasses, take a look at http://www.sunglasshut.com/  They have the site broken down in men's and women's.

That should give you an idea which look feminine.  (There are a lot more sunglasses that are "men's" today that would have been "women's" before... but the site will give you a good overview.)

At least you can get an idea.

Every day glasses. I don't wear sunglasses although I probably should.

Possibly metallic wasn't the correct term  :)  Actually they are more of a silvery purple

You're quite a bit younger than I am so it is understandable that you would be more interested in whatever's on trend for your age group

My tastes have change quite a bit from my old death rocker days and although Ray Bans never really go out of style, I'm just not really into them anymore

Glasses are a fairly individual tastes kinda thing, you should just get whatever suits your fancy  :)

I have no idea what's on trend for my age group. I just like bronze, gold, silver, or black and prefer rectangular frames (unless they are really cool like the steampunk looking ones). Unfortunately, my current bronze, rectangular glasses are what get me read as female (along with my voice). Hence my current predicament (and I need to get new glasses anyway). What are Ray Bans?

I think Ray Ban has been around since the 1930's  :)  These are the kind I use to get since the 70's

Oh they look like that. My sister had some glasses like that. I prefer smaller, thinner ones myself.

Here's another link for you:  http://www.lenscrafters.com/eyeglasses/9/eyeglasses/mens

This will give you an overview of male frames / styles.  On the home page, I belive it has a "trending now" link, but I don't think it's broken down into men's / women's

EDIT:  They do have a "trends" on the menu just above the pictures of the glasses.. it's under the "filter" area there.  You'll see it.

They make a bunch of different styles, those are just the type I use to get  :)  They are really well made but they do sit kinda heavy on your face and they're a bit too pricey for me these days

They are one of the original companies that almost all the other companies imitate

I like my light weight thin frames now  :)  Much more comfortable, I can hardly even feel them when they are on

Also I have sensitive eyes and have to get the transition lenses that turn into sunglasses outside  :)  So the less expensive the frames the better

lol Same, but I don't like sunglasses, so I just squint a lot. My lenses tend to be expensive though because my eyes suck, so I tend not to buy expensive frames.

It is so easy.  Boring Boring Boring

Try aviator.  Strong extra metal bar across top.

Colors are black or grey or brown.

Do not get a point on corners.  That's feminine!

Heavy is better.  You must leave an indentation in bridge of nose.

Do not upgrade to scratch resistant.  Scratches on lenses are totally male!

I love pansy designs on temples.  Do not get them.

I love combination colors.  Do not get them.

Make sure temples have springs so that you can bend them.

Make sure half your face is covered by glasses.

If it's stylish do not buy it.

Buy frame that can withstand tsunami.

If it is fragile then it is feminine.

Look for frames with strong weld joints.

Look for frames with adjustable nose pads.

It is so easy.

Continue to wear styles that are out of date.  Trendy is feminine!

Yes!!! Expensive is feminine!  Buy durable and low price.  Heavy.

You want heavy.
