What's your favorite kind?

For me, Samoas. I really need to learn how to make these. Or maybe I shouldn't...

I don't really eat much sweets anymore, but...

When I lived in San Diego I'd go to the farmers market and there was a local vendor who had 20 or so different kinds of big 4-1/2"cookies  :)  the hardest part was making a choice

I usually went for the a white chocolate chip/macadamia nut cookie but I also love oatmeal/chocolate chip cookies for fond childhood memories   :)

Daisies: 1 stick butter, 1/4 cup sugar, 1 cup flour, 1/4 tsp vanilla, and your favourite jam, jelly, preserves, or marmalade. Mix all ingredients and place by the teaspoon on a greased cookie sheet. Make a depression in each cookie with a finger, don't push all the way through. Using just the tip of a spoon, put a dab of jelly in each cookie. Bake at 375 degrees F for ten to twelve minutes. Enjoy, hugs, Devlyn

Always a great choice! Nice one

I think this thread wasn't the best idea, I really want to make cookies right now.

Garbage Cookies (from Cooks.com)

1 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
2 c. oatmeal
2 c. Rice Krispies
1 c. coconut
1 c. nuts (optional)
12 oz. chocolate chips

Mix shortening, sugars, eggs, and vanilla. In separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, salt, and baking powder. Combine 2 bowls together. In separate bowl, combine garbage - oatmeal, Rice Krispies, coconut, nuts, and chocolate chips. Combine garbage into cookie dough. Bake at 350 degrees for 13 to 15 minutes.

With that said, Alexis's picture appears to have some dried fruit in it, such as raisins, dates, or cranberries.

They're Dark Chocolate, Butterscotch, Espresso, Oatmeal, Graham Cracker, Pretzel, and Potato Chip actually :D
I'll usually throw in marshmallow, and some form of nuts if I have them, but my pantry is looking a little bare right now

The recipe I used is actually from Milk Bar in NYC. It is by far my favoritest place ever; I think the place may be made out of love, well love and calories. Anyway, the premise is to just throw in everything that you have in the cabinet that you want to get rid of, and anything goes

Sorry for it being in grams, but I always bake in grams (the only time I ever measure anything) and the metric system makes more sense and is more precise.

Compost Cookies

225 g  Unsalted Butter (2 Sticks)
200 g  Sugar
150 g  Light Brown Sugar
50   g  Glucose (You can sub this for 18 g Corn Syrup)
___
Cream together in a stand mixer at med-high speed for 3 mins; add
___
1     ea Egg
2     g   Vanilla Extract
___
Cream for another 8 mins in a stand mixer at med-high
___
225 g  AP Flour
2     g  Baking Powder
1.5  g  Baking Soda
4     g  Kosher Salt
___
Drop speed on mixer to low and add all of the above. Mix until it just comes together, DON'T OVERMIX, otherwise the gluten will be too active and the cookies won't rise
___
So that's the basic cookie dough. From here you can add whatever you want, the classic ones though have

150 g  Mini Milk Chocolate Chips
100 g  Mini Butterscotch Chips
85   g  Graham Cracker Crust
40   g  Old-fashioned Rolled Oats
5     g  Ground Coffee
___
You would add all of the above to the mixer at this point and mix until just incorporated. Then add:

50   g  Potato Chips
50   g  Mini Pretzels
___
Again, mix until just incorporated, or you'll break the pretzels

Scoop out the dough onto a sheet tray and refrigerate them for an hour. These cookies won't bake right if you cook them when they're not cold because of the way they're creamed.
Heat the oven to 375
Bake on a parchment lined (or silicone mat it you have one) sheet pan for 18 mins or until they're just browned
Cool. They'll keep for a few days on a plate or you can freeze them, but who would do that
___
Finally curse me since these things are so freaking addictive and like the anti-diet

I forgot to add, from the original recipe, the swaps that I make are:
Swap the chocolate for the 70% Valrhona Chocolate pistoles (Guanaja) - This is the best chocolate ever! - and chop them into chunks
I add a few grams of non-fat dry milk powder in when I add the flour (MSG for baking)
Illy Espresso for the Coffee Grounds

Samoas, thin mints, and some of the other Girl Scout offerings.  I especially like Oreos and Chocolate chip, both with milk.  Cookies are banned from my house, except during the Girl Scout sale season in Feb-Mar.  I will eat a package in one sitting, thus the ban.

For those of us who enjoys the GSA Samoas, Keebler Coconut Dreams are essentially the same cookie.
