Hey everyone! :)

So I had my chest surgery around five weeks ago now, and I'm healing up awesomely, and really super dying to start exercising my chest, arms, and abs in the hopes of turning this skinny frame into something even slightly resembling awesome manly muscles. :P However, my nurse says 'NO EXERCISING FOR THREE MONTHS!!!' quite adamantly every time I ask.

Obviously I understand that I'm still healing, and trying something like a pushup would just be stupid, but I easily pick up my five kilo dog a million times a day, and if I can do that why can't I do some light weights? Nothing super intense, but anything has to be better than nothing right? My nurse still says no. T.T

So what do you guys think about the advisability of some very light exercise? It's killing me looking at this prime canvas with no pecs in sight (alright, I'll admit the left one is definitely firmer and more visible than the right. I have no idea why that might be... -shifty eyes-), so I'd very much like to start doing something, but is it really so bad? Ultimately I don't want to injure myself, so if I have to wait, I will, but I'd much rather not! :P

do cardio as it wont mess with your healing and it will help shed fat, reveal abs, and make your muscles more defined when you can start working out.

Make_It_Good

Id advise doing all you can to help reduce the risk of stretching your scars

On the outside yes. But what's happening on the inside??

You shouldn't even be doing that.

WRONG!! At THIS point in time NOTHING has to be better than anything.

My nurse still says no.

So, exactly what part of NO, don't you understand?

How else can I say NO! that you'll understand. You ARE healing, INSIDE. Lots of things are happening that DON'T need to be stressed.

FABULOUS. Please just do that. Wait and do absolutely nothing. You have a lifetime to build up whatever you want built up. NOW is the season of HEALING.

Be safe, well and happy
Lotsa huggs

Listen to your doctors they know what there talking about. I can understand that you want to jump right in to working out but if you're body is not ready to handle it then just don't do it.

No, no, no.  No lifting, no exercise yet.  I wouldn't even lift the dog right now.

I started back exercising (cardio and resistance) after 6 weeks.  Even that was a mistake.  My scars definitely stretched and even after a year I have some minimal additional stretching when I lift too much.  Take it easy.  You are healing up nicely now as you say.  Don't ruin it.

Alright okay, I get it! -sigh- That totally sucks... :(

Thanks for all of the input guys and girls! :P Still though, I couldn't handle not picking up my puppy! When I do though I always squat down and use both arms to lift him, so no stress. :)

I'm not overly worried about stretching my scars, since they'll have to be cut open and resewn in a few months anyway, but I get what you're all saying. :P

why will they have to be re-opend?  :icon_confused2:
but yea, I second all of the no's :)
I didn't do anything for a good 6 wks. then I went swimming with Doctor clearance. I had keyhole though, so my excersize time was different.

My surgery is being done in two stages, that's why they'll be cut open again for the second stage in around four months. :)
