I hate my forearms! :*(

I've been searching online to see if with the help of HRT that it will reduce or make my vainy arms disappear. I can't seem to find an answer.

I did see that the climate you live in effects them. Colder climates are better I guess. If that's the case to get them to disappear I'm screwed cause I live in Phoenix! :(

My arms are extremely veiny. they make me wanna cry. I hate them.

I had the same problem before =/. But when I gained some weight they became less obvious. And now after I started hormones they are mostly invisible, but when its hot outside you can see them but not as before.

I am pretty sure that the extra fat under your skin will hide them atleast to some extent.

Serena, are you talking about color, or do your veins protrude slightly?

It has been my experience that the veins which protrude in and around the larger muscles in the arms, like the biceps, tend to recede as you lose muscle mass.

Think of the pictures you have seen of male and female body builders, and how their veins really pop out.  You are going the opposite direction.

That's good to hear because I don't wanna the only girl in Phoenix wearing a sweater in the summer. :p  I wonder if I should start gaining weight then? I'm doing my best to slim down. When did you start seeing a reduction? How long into HRT were you?

Yep they protrude it's absolutely ugly. Its more then a little too. So you think they will go down too then?

I'm only a month into HRT.

Mine are gone, I live in Louisiana... dunno when they stopped showing but they aren't there anymore.
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

I never really noticed either until recently, but for the most part, my veins invisible from hrt too.
I was very self conscience too and understand you're discomfort as i had long lanky arms with crazy protruding green veins and was the one in 90 degree weather with long sleeves. looking at them now they are barely seen.

I do remember however, my therapist kinda poking fun at me by saying you would be surprised by how many men like veiny armed biological women  ;D

Thank you ladies for all the replies. :)

I feel a lot better now that I've heard all your responses. I guess it's something I will just have to overcome mentally until they disappear. :)

agree, My mom has pretty much the same kind of veins as this girl, its something she is born with, and I also got them pretty big before homones..

my hand look extremly simular to this girl, which some people tend to find "pretty" and some tend to find "really creepy"

Girl try not to worry about it too much, most people don't notice things like that.  Your arms are veiny because of several reasons, mostly because you have a low body fat percentage.  Heat can also bring your veins out as well, and so can toned muscles... as being tone typically goes hand and hand with low body fat percentage.

I have the same "problem"  my arms are veiny... I even have that big vein that runs down my biceps that bodybuilders so desperately want... but I don't =)  Anyway, I'm really tone, i'm very veiny, and I went back to living as a boy/androgynous and wear tank tops everyday... and no stranger ever refers to me as a he.  In fact, I've had several people come up and ask how I am in such good shape and tone for being a woman... but my original plan in wearing tank tops was to show off these veins and muscles and my flat chest so I would pass as a boy.  So, the point i'm making is... most people don't notice it, and if they do they don't typically think "man!" they usually think tone woman.  It's just like a that picture of Angelina that somebody posted, if you saw her walking down the street you would never think man, despite her veiny arms.

I too had very vascular forearms. But I can tell you this changed through the years from when I was taking hormones. Testosterone and low estrogen also promote vasodilation.

It all makes sense now... Angelina Jolie is a man!  O_O

I had veiny arms back in the day.  Not sure how long it took them to morph.  Another thing that changed is I can see the tendons on the backs of my hands, all the time, which is cool btw.

How do yours look now since you posted this? better?

Bringing this thread up back from the dead...

So here I am 4 months in and these veins are still here. I called the Phoenix vein institute and may go in and see if I can have them shot down. Has any of your girls down this? She said its like $150 a session and most people need like 5. Worth it you think?

I have good news for you.

I can absolutely, 100% tell you that I have a first hand experience with someone I know, who had very noticeable veins prior to starting HRT, at the absolute most a year later, they were virtually gone. This person has not moved, lives in the same climate, and has not gained any significant weight.

So I hope that helps to give you some optimism.

As always it may vary person to person, but I can promise you it can happen.

Take care.  ;D
