I've been looking into surgeons that provide top surgery & came across one locally.  (FWIW, I live in a large city.)

He had several before/after photos displayed on his website.  I noticed that with one exception, the guys were left with *extra boob*, except that it looked like someone poured some flesh onto an invisible shelf.  Some on the side, some in the front.  Also, the areola seemed to be too large on all of them.  (Though I suppose that is a matter of preference.)  Is this normal?

Here are the examples of his work:

Am I being overly critical or is this the *expected?* outcome?

I don't know how normal those results are. One thing to keep in mind is body type. Take results of guys with your body type into account. At the time I had mine done, there was a very popular surgeon who did excellent work on small, thin guys. His results on larger guys weren't that great.
It looks to me as if this particular surgeon may not have good results on larger patients.

What you're describing may be the 'dog ear' effect sometimes seen on larger patients. I was overweight and got an excellent result with no dog-earing, so it is possible.
If you're not overweight, just pay more attention to his results on thinner patients.

I've not looked at many top surgery photos because it's a long way off for me, but they don't look particularly great.  If you can afford it I'd go for someone who's results you're more impressed with, this is something you're going to have to live with for the rest of your life and I'd not want to go into it knowing I've got some doubts about the surgeon.

I'm in the process of getting myself back into shape.  So I'm really hoping to see a decrease in breast size through that.  I plopped them on a scale a few days ago after a workout, mostly out of curiosity.  (They really get in the way of movement & make it extremely hard to forget about.)  6.4 lbs combined

One way or another, this *special flab* is getting the boot.  I will weigh my options, even if it means traveling.  Because as you've mentioned, it's permanent & I'm not terribly thrilled with that surgeon's results.

Please keep looking. It's worth traveling a bit even if you have to save up some more, to avoid having to get revisions.

I didn't think anyone was doing "twilight" surgery (you're not under general) for chest reconstruction any more. Is that because he is doing the surgery in his office/"spa," instead of a hospital? I ended needing to stay in th hospital overnight, because of blood pressure issues, so I'm speaking from my own experience here.

I also think it is interesting that the doctor considers this "elective cosmetic surgery," and "never" takes insurance. The American Medical Assn calls it medically necessary, and more and more insurance companies are providing coverage.

My top surgeon was not particularly experienced when he did mine, and I consider my results to be good but not great. With that said, I would take my results over any one of the results on that site. The guys might look better after healing and a revision, but my initial results were better than theirs--I think much better--before healing and revision. I would stay away from this guy.
