So assuming 80 years (not including clothing as a child, so this woman lived to like 100).. that's $1,500 per year on clothing alone
It's now September and I've spent $70 on clothing this year, 1 pair of shoes and a 4 pack of socks. An overestimated average would be more like $200/year including what I receive as gifts.

I can see that changing in future, but not up to 1.5k..
But maybe one day....

I honestly find it to be a shame that women feel like they have to meet some silly standard and buy unnecessary makeup. Then they complain that they don't have money for fun....  ??? Honestly, I really don't think it makes women look any different. If it does, it often makes them look like clowns.  I'll never wear that junk.

What I really get annoyed at most, though, is when women like my mom take an hour getting ready and then have the nerve to ask me "How do I look?" I don't know, you were in front of a MIRROR for an hour, you tell me.

I shop at thrift stores and department store sales anyway, so I'm pretty sure I don't spend too much on clothes. I'm the kind of person who keeps about 12 outfits at most for years. Seriously, you can buy my entire wardrobe for less than $200.  ;D

To date i've spent about $50 for makeup and $6 for some trailer trash $3 rack at walmart clothes . Which is 300%/yr more than i have spent as  a cis male.

Famous last words? Or maybe you have no beard shadow to cover up? The trick to successful makeup is that it should not look like makeup, but it should conceal imperfections and blemishes.

She knows how she looks, she want you to tell her she looks nice.

I know, but I still won't wear it. Humans are flawed. Get over it. Besides, I'd rather have fun than worry about some meaningless imperfection.

I understand this too. It's just hard to not be snappy when someone makes you wait an hour for them to finish makeup. I can be out the door without a second thought without worrying about it.

Hmm... I refer you to my previous comment.

Goodbye.

Erh, I cannot second most of the voices here. I spend more than a grand a year. :P And I think that figure (corrected annually, etc) may not be wrong. Don't forget inflation, if you spend two grand today, in 2020 it'll be four grand (or something, but not two grand)!

All I can say is money well spent, because not looking like a slob is important to me...

Same with most women, apparently.

It sounds fun to spend all that money though, even if it's over a 80 year period ;)
To dream of the person you would like to be is to waste the person you are.

Honestly, I have never been a makeup advocate. However, while I don't agree, I can understand why some might buy concealer or simple things like that. However, when you start using brightly colored lipstick (ew), eye-liner (ew squared), mascara (which is unnoticeable unless your friends don't know the meaning of personal space), etc., then it gets to be too much.

I don't know; I guess it's just I want to use my money elsewhere, such as buying food.  :icon_dribble:

My stomach's a black hole.  :P

Bottom line, the only makeup I would even consider is something to hide beard shadow. Fortunately, my puberty hasn't sunk in 100% yet. I don't have facial hair and I can make high-pitched noises that would make most guys rip their vocal cords to try.  :P

Human beings have covered their faces with cosmetics dating back to the Ancient Greeks and Egyptians. I understand the naturalist perspective, but don't share it. Makeup is sexy, and above all, fun! I knew I was trans when I started getting jealous of my female classmates ability to wear makeup.

Well, I got jealous that they could wear dresses and cute boots, while I couldn't.  :'(

I'd settle with high couture shirts, pants and jackets/blazers :D (*drools over magazines' outfits*)
