You really think so Fairy? Damn I always hate how I sound but that is cool I guess :)
Accent is alright I suppose just a boring south east England one. Not very exotic :P

Anyway just keep practicing Fairy I think you are off to a good start, just using your voice and practicing alone irrespective of progress will actually strengthen your muscles and allow you to grab control where before you had none, then you will be able to hold the line where you once had dips and whatnot. A lot of voice training is actually just blind practice, far as I can tell anyway.

Exotic or not it just sounds ... good you know? Like you were meant to talk. Like there's no bridge between your voice and the sounds coming out of your mouth, if that makes any sense.

For me, I have a south american spanish accent, so sometimes when I talk in English, no matter how articulate I try to be or how much I enunciate, it sounds like there's a potato in my mouth. And going into a female voice while having a potato in your mouth is such a challenge. @_@
So yes ... all of the jealousy from me to you.
Granted, then there's the situation of my boyfriend saying the accent makes my voice sound attractive, so maybe I'm being too hard on myself. Well, even so, the jealousy is there. (good kind of jealousy ^^)

1 month on T. Do I sound like a guy yet or still needs some more work?

Ya know when I post a voice on here I normally have a little look about and see if there are any other people who want their voice listened to and an opinion given. It is kind of a give and take thing you know.
Since I am nice though I will give you some feedback.

I think you sound OK. You speak quite monotone which is good and it is reasonably low and full sounding. I think once T has done its job you will sound a lot better, though you will I expect have to change your style of speaking a little more. Really though it is just a wait and see right. That your voice box will fatten up and give you a deeper voice is inevitable and should also change the tone, which I think sounds kinda female atm.

Anyway if anyone else would care to give a quick opinion on what sounds better out of these two I would be very appreciative:

https://soundcloud.com/olivia1988-1/9novpitchpushin2/s-a2leM

I don't know if the pitch sounds fake? Or is it just me. Like seriously any feedback is great even if there is nothing constructive.

I think you sound great, I actually prefer the Nov 6 one, sounds more natural which I think gives it the edge :)

You definitely sound female, the 2nd recording was better.
It sounds a bit like you're straining yourself, practice will make it perfect though.

Thanks so much, I really do appreciate the feedback so thanks a lot!
I guess three people saying it sounds OK is worth listening to :D

And yea I think I prefer the higher pitch but it is more effort so is harder to make natural sounding. With some more work though I guess I can transfer that quality up the pitch level.

I've been on and off practicing for the past few months, and by practicing I mean following zero structure and just trying random things and perfecting my falsetto in my car because my favorite band loves their falsetto :P
But I'm horrible at out loud reading regardless of what voice i'm using so i'm not even going to make a fool of myself doing that :P I think I'm close but something seems horribly off and i have no clue what to adjust or change.
Tell me if 6 seconds doesn't suffice and I'll try to read something and likely sound dumb http://vocaroo.com/i/s0hqUOZu9Gaw

I think if you look decent while speaking with that voice then it might be just about ok? Your mean average pitch is 212hz which is on the low end of the female range I think but within it.
I think the tone could be improved some. You know that hard to explain resonance junk. Where does your voice feel like it is coming from?

Ofc something a little longer would also be more useful!

How did you find the mean average pitch?

This sticky topic will easily explain how to do it. Courtesy of Jennygirl.

Though ofc since I am so nice ;)

I ran your last vocaroo through it just now and your average mean hz in that was 152hz. Which is actually quite deep, though I do not know where you started. However the very end of the word "month" was your lowest point at a deep 120hz. Maybe try repeating month all day and trying to take that deepness into other words. That is like the exact opposite of how I raised pitch.

I see, thanks so much! Well I had to dig around my computer for a pre-T recording XD

202hz :)

Well dang, that was a huge drop considering it's only been 1 month.

For sure. Like some of it maybe you consciously or subconsciously trying to lower pitch as well. That is a really big change though. But listen to them both, you can hear it, easy.

Well I have an awful sore throat today and the average mean pitch (using Praat and that tutorial) dropped down to 130.5Hz

I'm pretty sure this is in reply to me. But my voice feels like it's at the like back of my mouth I guess? Like my throat I dunno it's hard to explain. I know basically nothing I've just give off of the little singing knowledge I have from a middle school music class so I dunno.

Im still WIP but I heard that you want it in the front of your mouth in more than one place. Appears to be workin for me decently atm I guess.

So this is the first time I have posted my voice online for people to analyze. Not going to lie, kinda nervous, but it's the voice I use everyday so curious what people hear. I haven't had any training other than some tips from YouTube and my voice was already on the higher end of the male spectrum before I started adjusting my speech about 9 months ago. I don't think my voice has been affected by HRT at all, at least not a noticeable amount.

Anyways I recorded this -->https://soundcloud.com/just-a-seq/thisisatest/s-Q1jVN at my desk at work, it is my normal talking voice, but I wasn't sure what to say so read an emergency broadcast script....

I used Pratt to find my mean pitch ~160 Hz and mean resonance ~3200 Hz, well kinda... not super experienced with the software so my analysis could be off. I think regardless, whether I look at numbers or hear it, I can still improve more with patience and time.

Hi, sounds pretty good. I think your voice has a good tone to it. I don't trust the formant thing in PRAAT though. It seems wonky (it seems to measure my normal male voice F3 at ~2900-3000), but your resonance is good for sure. Since despite the relatively low pitch I think the tone makes you sound better than my significantly higher pitched recording.

I think if you could pull up your pitch even a little it might sound better, so long as you do so strain free, but I do not think you necessarily need to, to me at least it sounds feminine for sure.
