A combination of a bit more pitch if you can handle it and a bit more emotion. If you listen to a woman speak when she is happy, you can hear the emotion in her voice. Consider something as simple as good morning. A woman might go high on good, low on mor and slide up to ning. It make a feminine voice interesting to listen to and separates it from a masculine speech pattern.

Voices are not something that you get right over night. it can take months to lock the new speech pattern in and once it is, it's difficult to return to the old voice. Before voice surgery, I attempted it and it took several tries to return to that range. It will come in time as long as you keep working on it.

I see! Thanks for the explanation.
Transition has been the best practice for developing patience I could have asked for. :)

This is my latest update of the Rainbow Passage.

I went back and checked out your last voice sample and you have improved. The pitch is in the feminine range and the inflection while good could use a touch more range. Other than that, I think the current voice would pass the telephone test.

You sound definitely feminine to me Rachel and i'm so jealous!

Next step is make-up and hairstyle.

Welcome to the club!

I am still unsure of my voice. Can anyone comment on it and tell me how it sounds? I have had months of voice therapy sessions but I don't practice a lot since I am only living part time right now.

I think it sounds pretty good, really.  It does sound a bit 'stressed' and you need to practice  or use it more to help out with that.  However, resonance is also pretty good given the lack of practice.

Thank you so much, any other tips? Should I consider lowering my pitch just a little so it doesn't sound stressed or just continue practicing where I am at? I have been practicing at 220hz and sometimes a little higher.

Thank you again!

Even though I have had VFS, I'll be the first to admit that pitch isn't that important. Resonance is THE most important thing.  You'd be better off keeping it near 200 and working on resonance a bit more. If you keep it a bit lower it will make it easier to use prosody as well. Basically, you want to try to be using a voice that is at a pitch which isn't that stressful to use, and then add the right prosody and resonance. In my humble opinion, of course.

Will do, thank you so much! With my voice coach I was staying around 195hz and I decided to gradually pull it up to 220hz on my own recently... It's good to be reasured to pull it back down were I practiced with them. Thank you again! :)

I agree, it sounds really good. The only thing I can comment on is that it sounds like the phrases aren't really resolving (pitch-wise)... if you can bring the average down, while leaving that high end where it is (just reaching for it less frequently) it might sound more natural.

In my opinion, pitchwise, you are OK. However, try to work on your resonance as women usually use less power. They are more softly spoken than men!

Here's a voice sample I recorded today.  I started training my voice just 3 months ago, and I think I've made a lot of progress very quickly.  I started with the Kathe Perez 30-day Crash Course.  I didn't really have a feminine voice after that 30-day course, but it did lay the foundation for what lay ahead.  After that, I worked with a professional voice trainer in Chicago, Liz Jackson.  web site:  http://www.thevoicelabinc.com/   There's nothing quite like being in a quiet room, sitting across from someone with a trained ear who can see and listen to every nuance of your face, throat, and voice.  Liz was immensely helpful and really helped take my voice to the next level.  She's also incredibly friendly and encouraging in every way!  It was a joy to take lessons from her.  :)

I think I also had a bit of an advantage as my natural male speaking voice was about 170 Hz, which I know is very high to begin with.  And I also had lots of musical training when I was younger, which helped too.

I'm not entirely satisfied with my voice and still think there's room for improvement, so I'm going to keep trying to find ways to get better.  I also really hope to someday be able to sing in a feminine voice too!

I feel really really lucky because I only just started working on my voice a few weeks ago and have had less than 10 total hours practicing it thus far and this sounds WAAAY better than I could have expected (not that it's perfect or anything but still).

I've been following this guide, I can't remember if I saw it posted here or if I found it myself but it's done wonders: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CbTtASux7ys&list=PLC5375389210FC490&index=1

It's a short sample but what there was of it isn't bad. It would be better if used a larger frequency range even if you needed to go a bit lower in pitch as the voice sounds a little flat/mono tone.

Thanks; yeah, the sample was short because I kind of cherry-picked the best recording I could get. I'll try and work on that, my voice has always been incredibly monotone even for a guy so I don't expect to be perfect right away.
