Hi all,

Been keeping this under my hat for a while, until i was sure it was a "go" all the way -

This Thursday, April 26th, at 6PM, I'll be one of two MTF guests appearing for general educational interviews on a local cable access channel/show.

The fellow producing this segment is a researcher at Johns-Hopkins Baltimore, and the show will air sometime next week, i believe. The program is called "Chit Chat", and it's a small local privately produced talk show format that will, in this instance, be very straightforward and mainly geared to the general viewing public, and towards promoting better understanding of what TG/TS is, and current issues faced by people like ourselves that are out and openly living in society.

I know that i will be getting a tape of the interview, and i have already inquired as to whether or not we will be able to create web links so that we can get much wider exposure on the internet. If there are links made available after the segment, i will post them on this site, as well as my own site and support forum, which i will be creating and trying to get on air with, in the next 2 months. At the very least, i will have the tape converted to a DVD format and be able to webcast it that way.

I am completely overwhelmed. A little nervous, but truly excited. I am deeply complimented that i was selected for this interview, and i was able to get in as a result of the producer posting an invite to the Yahoo group for TransEquality Maryland, an offshoot of the Greater Equality Maryland organization, headed up by Dan Furmansky.

I responded, answered a barrage of various questions about my experiences and general knowledge of the subject(s) at hand, and have just recieved my confirmation call this afternoon. I'll keep everyone posted as to actual airtimes and availability of webcast once it becomes available.

Wish me luck.

Thanks all.
Lovingly always,
LoveForever,

Sincerely,

ChefAnnagirl(forever)

Over 20 years ago (Yes time flies!) with my wife and a few friends (all founder-members of Friends of Eon) we went on National Television RTE1 for the Summer-show program and on National Radio RTE Radio1 for the Pat Kenny show.  The results were amazing! so many people got in touch relieved to know that they weren't the only ones. Afterwards we even got an invitation from the Samaritans to give a talk to their volunters as part of their training program.

Congratulations for picking up the torch and spreading the message. I'm sure you'll be grand. All the best.

Hi all - just a brief update -

We did our taping on the 26th of April - we took a full hour of questions, and this will be edited down to a 30 minute segment. We'll get airing schedule and tapes/discs sometime in the next few weeks once they finish the edit. Once the other girl and i have a chance to review it, we'll decide if we like it enough to go maximum exposure. Everyone in the studio was completely blown away that night, and we were treated with warmth, kindness, and genuine respect. This was definitely no Jerry Springer type of circus. Closed studio, no live audience, 2 hosts and 2 guests(ourselves) at a round table standard talk/interview show format.

We dealt with questions like: What does transgender mean to us, in our own words ? What are the most common perceptions/misperceptions that most people seem to have ? What are the facts of our lives and experiences versus these kinds of (mis)perceptions ? We talked about gender versus sexual identity, and how this is often such a large part of common misperceptions and biases.

They asked at what age did we become aware of this about ourselves, and how it affected us ?
What kinds of challenges, difficulties, and/or forms of discriminations we have to face in our daily lives. They asked about the use of pronouns and titles, and if people like ourselves strictly prefer to be referred to in the gender we now are living in and at what point does that change for those that transition in gender.

We talked about what it was like beginning transition, and how family, friends, and professional relationships were affected by this, as well as how things have either improved or worsened for us since then. The hosts also covered questions like offensive terminologies, progress being made in any sorts of protective legislations, and ended with what we would most like people in the general public eye to know about this subject, and about ourselves as people in general.

It was truly a grand learning experience for all of us, and I think ( i hope) we will do more, whenever possible. After the taping, we were barraged with compliments on how well everyone thought we had done, and that we had effectively managed to completely change, or considerably expand, the perceptions of almost everyone in the studio that was there working on this show.
This was immensely gratifying, and left all of us with an incredibly warm and truly very positive feeling.

This was a real compliment for both of us, and i felt truly honored to have been given this opportunity.
I will keep everyone posted once we see the finished product, get local airtimes, and decide personally what we each would want to do with it, depending on whether or not we really like it. Everyone there said we really did an excellent job, so of course we can't wait to see it and decide for ouselves...

Thanks,

LoveForever,
Sincerely,

Annagirl

I would love to see this Anna.  I hope that it breaks out of your community and makes it's way to the national market somehow.  Thanks for representing us.  We need more like you willing to put their face out there.

Hi everyone,

Just got the update on this show/taping. The edit will be finished tomorrow and the program will air locally starting this Friday here in parts of Maryland. I'll have copies within a few days, and will find a way to get it on the "air" here, and as many other places as we deem appropriate.

It has been an incredible week. Myself and at least a hundred other TG men and women from all around the country joined together with/under the umbrella of NCTE (Nat'l center for Transgender Equality) individually met with face to face, and lobbied the House and Senate members and staffers here in DC for support and sponsorship of ENDA, as well as thanking those members that sponsored or supported the passage of HR 1592.

It WAS a great day, and we can hope well that this is working toward real progress in the the making for all of us. Slow and difficult, yes. Significant nonetheless - YES.

Susan Stanton from Florida was here, as well as many other people that have made MANY siginificant contributions to our plight.

We were seen and heard, and made a very significant presence here on Capitol Hill, whether in reality, they liked it or not....

Even if Bush were to veto this bill, to get full house or Senate passage (either or both) of ENDA, would send a landmark message within the next year, and help pave the way towards further progress in the next 2 years as the leadership in DC changes.

I'll post add'l details in this forum under another topic later today. We are NOT going to back down, and NEED help from anyone and everyone that can.

Will keep y'all posted....
Thanks,

LoveForever,
Sincerely,

Hi all - once again.

The edit for our show was not completed this past week as we had thought/hoped. I spoke to one of the hosts/producers last night and he told me not to worry. It will be completed and be airing next Friday, and i should be recieving my copy shortly. Will keep you all informed once i get all the airtimes and days. It's only local to one county in Maryland at the moment, but as i had said - if we like the results of what we have seen, the other girl that appeared and I will decide what additional level of exposure we would like to give it. It may take me a little while, if they give me a VHS copy to get it converted to a DVD format and then set up links, but it WILL happen soon enough - probably only a few weeks.

Thanks everyone for all of your support.

Lovingly always,
LoveForever,

Sincerely,

This past Friday, May 25th, 2007 message from our producer/host

The show began airing today and will run all through June. After that it will be taken off for a couple of weeks and then rotated back in. The channel is 73 in Howard County at 10:30 am, 2:30 pm, and 6:30 pm. Spread the word. I will be mailing out copies to both of you tomorrow.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks everyone here on this site for intelligent support in my life. Every single one of you.
No matter whether we agree or disgaree with one another in any way - I gotta wish you well, always. My life is exploding in so many incredible directions - it is for all of us. So many of us.
and i can help make a difference - so, i am going to.
it's about time, anyway - guess probably a little overdue.

If you're here in that part of Maryland, i hope you like it if you can catch it.
Will discuss posting weblinks with the other girl before we do it. She is in a very sensitive place in some ways. She's had a rough time of it all for awhile now, and could use all of our support...

Thanks always,

Congrats and thanks to both of you for going public and putting the record straight by challenging all the misinformations on the subject. Can't wait to see it for myself. Just hope that your friend can find the support she needs. She is so lucky to have you and of course would be welcome here.

Hopes, Hugs, Light, Laughter, Love & Respect.
