Discovering Neil Young

Hearing "Cortez the Killer" for the first time. Amazing. How could i ever go without this song?

CalmRage

One of the most beautiful songs ever written...and it was released as a B-Side. Luckily it finally got its deserved acclaim in the 90's.

If you're leaving close the door.
I'm not expecting people anymore.
Hear me grieving, I'm lying on the floor.
Whether I'm drunk or dead I really ain't too sure.

I'm a blind man, I'm a blind man and my world is pale.
When a blind man cries, Lord, you know there ain't no sadder tale.

Had a friend once in a room,
had a good time but it ended much too soon.
In a cold month in that room
we found a reason for the things we had to do.

I'm a blind man, I'm a blind man, now my room is cold.
When a blind man cries, Lord, you know he feels it from his soul.

You keep on moving
Far away far away
You keep on moving
Far away far away
Everyday wheels are turning
And the cry still returning

Dawn will soon be breaking
The day has just begun
You put your arms around me
Like a circle 'round the sun
Dance across the seasons
To a place that no one knows
Where angels fear to tread

I love Neil Young, but never quite liked his lead work.  Cortez is one the few songs where his lead work is inspirational in my opinion.  "Southern man" on the other hand shows how uninspired and sloppy he can be when soloing.  Having said that, that's another great song by him.

Sitting In A Dream - Deep Purple with the LSO and R.J.Dio

I'm just passing time before the Ball
Playing my guitar
I don't have to be where I don't want to be at all
Maybe I'll go far
Going nowhere, sitting in a dream...
Ah, in a dream

Sitting in a landscape full of sighs
Dream away the day
Making up a tune about the blueness of the skies
This is where I'll stay
Going nowhere, sitting in a dream...
Oh, in a dream

Watching as a red and white balloon
Sails across my mind
In between the images that drift along my tune
Smile as they unwind
Going nowhere, sitting in a dream...
Ah, in a dream

Radiohead's OK Computer on vinyl, just finishing the final side.

I had this forever and I finally got around to playing it.

One more song and then it's off to bed.

Have to study A LOT over the weekend. The upcoming test is very important, but i feel really burnt-out.

Radiohead ~ How To Disappear Completely
All I can say is that my life is pretty plain, I like watchin' the puddles gather rain.

Despite all my rage, I'm still just a rat in a cage

His sloppy, erratic solos is a big part of his appeal for me.

I'm a huge prog rock fan so I do have a thing for flashy technique, but it isn't everything.
