BYU revises honor code policy on homosexuality

A transgender Soulforce Equality Rider who was once denied admission to Brigham Young University for being gay and was arrested last month for trespassing on campus, said he is encouraged by the school's revision of its honor code policy regarding sexual orientation.

The university is owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a wide variety of degrees in various fields are offered. Brigham Young is located in Provo, Utah. About 98 percent of its students are Mormon, a faith that teaches that homosexuality is sinful.
