Ok. I'm going to try to go as Rumplestiltskin for Halloween. If it doesn't work or I don't finish in time, I have a back up. I love dressing up for Halloween. Even if I don't finish in time, I want to make this costume anyway. I need to sew at least one of the parts of my costume. I already know it's not going to be exact due to a limited selection of fabric (and the fact that I do not own leather pants), but I doubt anyone will care as long as I get his general style. Anything I make will be modified if need be to keep enough of my chest covered. I have red, shiny fabric with a kind of square pattern. I can, however, purchase another kind so long as I can find it. I have sewn before and I know that I can do this. There are some things I don't know how to do which is why partially why I'm asking for advice and there is nothing preventing me from learning as I go. If I get any terminology wrong, it's because I can't remember what the word is, but I do get the concept.
I have three options:
I could make this vest. The colour would be wrong, but the pattern is the same and it's a colour he would wear anyway. If I were to go this route, what tips would you suggest? I don't know how to do the eyelets (not that that will stop me from learning), I don't know what the edging is, and I don't know how to make the collar stand up. This one may be my favourite.
