Hairline Advancement Numbness??

I've been doing a bit of research on hairline advancement. Some of the info I've read warns about numb spots near the hairline post op. Has anyone experienced this is it permanent or temporary?? If temp how long did it take for sensation to return??

i did for the first 3-4 months. it can happen. it felt weird at first. the first time you touch one part of your scalp and dont feel it but can feel the rest. but the feeling all came back.

BTW how noticeable is the scar after healing?? I saw a girl who got her's done by the Facial Team and it was pretty much a light colored demarcation. I worrying about it showing on darker skin tones like ours.

i got mine in middle feb of this year and its alread not that easy to see

I've still got reduced feeling at ~10 months post op, it seems to be coming back slowly though.

Tristan - you look amazing, especially your eyes which are so pretty! Who did your FFS? Did you have a full setback of your forehead or just burring? I just love your results!

oh and i also meant to reply to the actual topic..! Looking on Dr Z's site he says that 80% of those who have the open technique (i.e. not endoscopic, which is everyone except dr z) will have permanent numbness! That sounds pretty scary, but maybe he is exaggerating?? surely it can't be that high?

He is prone to overstating the benefits of the endoscopic technique over open techniques, but given that the open technique is much more aggressive and invasive it stands to reason there would be more numbness.  80% does sound a little too high though.

It's a scary thought that the numbness could be permanent. I wonder how often this happens. And yes 80% seems a bit high.

Unfortunately with scalp advancement, a few surface nerves may get cut or stretched during the procedure, and as a result, numbness can occur.

Most of the time, if it's only stretching, it will recover most of the sensation within 9 months, the upper limit on recover being around 18 months.
