Looking for kid-friendly resources!!

Hi everyone. My partner (38) is on the brink of beginning her transition, and we are looking for ideas on how to help prepare her kids. She has a 10 year old daughter and an 8 year old son, who don't know yet that their "daddy" is going to be going through some serious changes in the next couple of years. I'm looking for some kid-friendly movies, books, or TV shows that feature transgender or genderqueer characters in a positive way. So far, all I've come up with is Glee -

There's a character introduced in Season 3 who has also appeared in a couple of Season 4's episodes so far.

Also, ANY suggestions on how to broach the topic of her upcoming changes with her kids would be VERY appreciated; they're going through a lot already, as my partner's divorce is just now finally getting underway 2 1/2 years after the initial separation, and this is going to be another thing on their plates.
