Meghan, you owned a 911 turbo?! That is my dream car. Mmmmm. Was it air cooled?!?!!?!?! I feel kinda bad admitting it but im in school right now because I want that 911 in my driveway! I wont settle for a Boxster eww!

I did, lol. Such a waste of money too! I mean it was fun to drive and it was really fast, but I'm so not a car person. A friend of mine told me "this car was wasted on you!" and she was so right. I'm not sure if it was air cooled. It was a 2003 turbo. Not to change the topic of the thread or be off subject, but this is a picture of it. You know, maybe it was air cooled, it had those little hole things on the sides of it.

Pre-transition: I was an IT consultant specialising in retail databases and system design. My services were used by large corporates such as Budget Rent-a-car or Umbro.

In transition (now): I run my own business designing web-based database systems. We also do website hosting and custom web design.

Post transition: I will want to do something different. I will have been in IT for 30 years by then and new challenges will be needed. TBH I feel like doing it now but my responsibility is to my children who are at an important stage of their education.

I don't mind my job. I just wish I could make a little bit more money to make things easier for me right now. My field is dominated by males. Very few females. I would like to change careers but its not really the best idea because I can't really afford it and with my current job Management/HR is backing me up on my transition so.

I am scientist by education, training, and experience. It is the only occupation I had as an adult. When I was a teen I earned some monies teaching martial arts. In high school I worked in a garage.


I wear many hats at work, but I am one of the few women senior scientist in my company, and the only one who is head of a lab. I am also a University pr\Professor in one of the local University.

Like Cindy, I am at the top of the heap in a 75,000 company. I was with the company before, and I am still with them, and I will be in the future.

I love my company and I love my job, it is the best.

So now Im a domestic engineer lol love it, today cooking a roast beef potatoes I certainly felt like an engineer, hard work being a fulltime housewife, but rewarding and fullfilling in its own way.

Congratulations Peky, that is so wonderful! Few can find their niche in life when it comes to gainful occupations! Many are miserable but for various reasons are afraid to or can't afford to quit and try something different and more psychologically rewarding. My father-in-law taught me a lot about that by his own example. Like you he loved his job and his position in the company. He loved his employer and co-workers, and though he was offered comparatively much more financial security by head hunters for other companies he refused to leave telling me that there is something called psychic income and it isn't measured in dollars and cents.

After:  Professional (hack) writer?  I've always loved to write, and perhaps now is the time to change my career.  After all, I started writing software professionally to pay the bills.  I'm very good at it, but it is no longer my vocation.  Then again, we *do* need more women in IT...

I'm a CAD designer in an engineering group.  The job I currently have is my first job and I've worked there since I was about 20.  Definitely a girl in a mans world.  I've made it known that I'm a MTF transexual.  Some believe me a few don't and a few don't know what to believe.  Other than that I'm treated well with the exception of not being taken serious.
