Coulter calls for 'Disown Your Son Day' in response to 'Coming Out Day'

The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) is calling for people to wear purple in support of LGBT youth after conservative columnist Ann Coulter joked that "Disown Your Son Day" should follow last week's "National Coming Out Day."

In a post to Twitter earlier Tuesday morning, Coulter wrote, "Last Thursday was national 'coming out' day. This Monday is national 'disown your son' day."

Out of the dozens of people responding on Twitter, not one seemed to find any humor in Coulter's joke.

So much for "Traditional Family Values" like caring for your children then. What a hypocrite! I wonder if she has any children and if so, how they feel about that?
If I was one of them I would have done something like written her name on a rifle cartridge and posted it to her in disgust.

She's not married and has no children.
Answers are easy. It's asking the right questions which is hard.

Heck, most of the commenters who are against her on that article are just as vile as she is and a few much more so.  Yep, support gays by hurling transphobic comments at a cis woman.

Why am I not surprised at this?   Probably a closeted Lesbian anyway!  ;)

Eww, please don't suggest that. I don't want her as a sister.

Sounds like a fair thing Tekla. ;D  Yes Sarah, she'd probably be a Transphobic Radfem like Raymond anyway. ::)

I am coming to the conclusion that the only people worth listening to are those who were conservatives in the 60's and now are hippies.  What is the point of being an individual if you can't go against the current?

I'm beginning to think that Ms. Ann Coulter does not know who or what she is.  Hurling insults the way she does will not help her more so in the future.  El Rushbo, on the other hand, is a buffoon and a clown.  His outbursts are more to sell things.
I am single and never married, but I participate in family events.  I visit lost relatives, took the nephews out camping, hosted my niece's wedding reception last month, did the family events this past summer at the cabin and sent everybody Christmas cards with handwritten messages.
She must of had a difficult or even a too easy family life during childhood.  I can find no info on her family life, except that she has two brothers.  My mother would never disown me, she told me that in 1977 when I came out to her.   I had a difficult childhood, but my family was there for me.  I come from an extended family who taught their kids that hurling insults like that will not get you far and good manners would.  This was backed by spankings, timeouts and groundings.
She needs an oral lavage with Ivory soap.

It would be interesting to institute a National Disown Ann Coulter Day, and see if she found it uncomfortable. Probably duck's-water off the back, though.

I haven't heard much from her, but whenever I have, I find her pretty funny. She says exactly what someone who represents what she does should say.

That's mean for her, but I can totally see where people might think she's a MAAB.
I can see me
I can see you
Are you me?
Or am I you?

Its still no reason for any gay people and their allies to use transphobic slurs/insults and masculine pronouns just because they don't like what she says. Just shows the lack of respect they have for transpeople.

Nothing that comes out of that woman's mouth should ever be taken seriously. She is a professional troll.
"For transpeople, using the right pronoun is NOT simply a 'political correctness' issue. It's core to the entire struggle transpeople go through. Using the wrong pronoun means 'I don't recognize you as who you are.' It means 'I think you're confused, delusional, or mentally I'll.'. It means 'you're not important enough for me to acknowledge your struggle.'"

This looks like it was a fun topic, before it was locked.

Actually when Ms Coulter speaks on college campuses, she is frequently shouted down by Leftists (who, no doubt, believe that the 1st Amendment only applies to what they want to hear).

Ms Coulter is a nationally syndicated columnist, author of eight New York Times best sellers, graduated with honors from Columbia University, and was Editor of the Michigan Law Review while she obtained her JD at the University of Michigan Law School.  She is the bete noire of the Left, because of her insightful and often scathing criticism.

One can certainly take exception to her satire and political opinions, but on this website we have a rule against bashing individuals or groups.  That is to say, you can argue the substance of her statement, without engaging in ad hominem attacks.

We don't want Susan's Place to degenerate into a hate site.
